The same range of reasons as straights I would have expected. Being gay relates to one characteristic in the countless ones that make up an individual and is not one relevant to scouting. I've volunteered to help at both scouts (in the UK) and a youth club for both boys and girls and that had absolutely nothing to do with my sexual orientation (straight as it happens).

 

Being gay is a different brand of sexual perversion than the other two.

I'm not claiming there is a direct link between them but rather that there is nothing wrong with society exercising its collective common sense to disapprove of all three.

Common knowledge or not, sexual molestation of a child is a sex crime and harmful to the child.

Psychological rationalization is not any comfort to the physical and psychological damage done to the child who is the victim of rape or molestation. Surely you don't mean to minimize that harm by calling it a power thing, right?

Many male pedophiles who molest boys, such as Jerry Sandusky, live straight lives and do not appear to be homosexual.
