Nah, not buying it. I don't think gay men have any particular interest in scouts or having their children in scouts. First of all, gay men have a bone to pick with the scout policies, so why would they choose that organization to help boys grow into honest, well rounded adults? Second why would a gay man feel so strongly about those values, they would want to be a scout leader despite the policy? Ma'am, it just doesn't pass the smell test. Who is so gullible to believe that load of bull-oney?

 

If a gay man is a pedophile (about 5% of pedophiles) they still target both boys and girls. That is what pedophiles do.

Yes, because gay folks make their sexuality first and foremost in their lives. Not.

Plenty of gay people do volunteer to help children for the exact same reason straight people do, to try and make the world a bit better place.

 

They probably would give it a wide berth now, but in the past, there were gays who were wonderful leaders, just as today there are gays who are wonderful fathers. There are gay boys in the scouts who love the scouting life. You have to realize that the only thing that really separates us is who we are attracted to. In every other way, we are the same. I was a Girl Scout Leader for 14 years and a teacher for 34 because I love to help kids. None of that has to do with to whom I am attracted. That is a completely different part of me. I am also and artist, a builder, a camper, a musician, a person with a huge group of friends, and many, many more things. Who I love is just one part of me.

Not sure what SF has to do with anything here. There are gay communities within every large city that I am aware of, form Houston to New York. Certainly it has nothing to do with the boy scouts covering up and allowing the continuance of the molestation of children.
