I thought he was moderating his position, but now it looks like he's pandering to the religious hate groups. In an interview he said, "It's at the core of the Catholic faith and to imagine how we are going to succeed in our country unless we have committed family life, (a) committed child-centered family system, is hard to imagine". He then continued, "So, irrespective of the Supreme Court ruling because they are going to decide whatever they decide - I don’t know what they are going to do - we need to be stalwart supporters of traditional marriage". He's proving to be a seriously flawed candidate if he wants to succeed in the general election. Homophobia disguised as "family values" doesn't fly with most people who don't want a theocracy.

Or a more rational thought "Extremely conservative, filthy rich donors, oppose gay marriage, it's in my best interests to oppose it too"....

    Food for thought....

    Money wins elections these days.

I thought he'd thread the needle so this surprises me. A couple of weeks ago he said he enjoyed reading Charles Murray who believes that blacks are intellectually inferior. If this is the best the GOP can put out there it's going to be tough to beat even a corrupt woman like Hillary.

I don't think anyone, republicans included, really wants Jeb to get the nod. Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio, that's where my money is on who gets the nomination.

This why the conservatives will so surely lose in 2016. I have not yet seen one who seems to realize that he must moderate the hard-line positions he takes to win the primary in order to win the general election. Newsflash, conservatives. the majority of Americans AREN'T racist, religious fanatics who hate the poor as well. Many of them, in fact ARE minorities of one sort or another and, as Lincoln noted, "It is well that God loves the poor, he made so many of them."

It's not wrong to support traditional marriage, one is not a homophobe just because he or she does not support gay marriage. One is not a homophobe for supporting traditional marriage. However, one is a bully if he or she labels people as bad for believing in something different.

Newsflash, the majority of conservatives aren't racist nor do the majority of conservatives hate the poor. I cannot speak for all conservatives, and there are certainly conservatives that are just plain wrong. However, I think the conservatives will win 2016 because there is no way in hell the left's God Hillary is going to. I predict she will drop out as more and more Clinton Cash scandals come to light.

When they all jump on the adulterous relationships that 1/2 of Americans have, christians included, then they won't look like the hypocritical fools they are now.

If homophobia = valuing traditional marriage, then Mr. Bush appears homophobic.

There are probably millions of people who don't make that equation.

The idea that Jeb Bush is the "best" the GOP can do is rather specious.
Is an ethically challenged liar like Hillary Clinton the best the left can do? For America's sake, let's hope not.

If your excuse is "family values", that means you believe gay marriage contributes to the destruction of family values. I would say that's homophobic. The family values garbage is political rhetoric anyways. Nobody believes it. It's an excuse to avoid saying what most people who are against gay marriage really feel, gays disgust them.

Being against gay marriage is homophobic just like being against interracial marriage is racist. I don't care if 90% of the world is against gay marriage, it's still homophobic.

50% divorce rate. 2nd and 3rd marriages. Those have destroyed more families than all the gay marriages in the world could destroy.
Try another angle. That one is BS.

IMO, I don't think the left has anyone at this point.
No freakin way for Hillary. I sure hope not.

It does destroy family values because family values means a man and a woman having a child and teaching them what it means to be a man/woman. It may or may not be a bad thing depending on who you ask.

I get a sneaky feeling that 90% of the world could care less what you think.

I get the feeling that well greater than 99% couldn't care less. I doubt the percentage of people who care what you think is much higher though. Welcome aboard the nobody cares what we think train.

"Religious hate groups"....liberals couldn't participate in a debate if they weren't allowed to use the words hate, racist or bigot. Are religious Muslims who oppose gays part of a hate group? Are the people who wanted dead cops and wanted them now part of a hate group? Is the Nation of Islam a hate group? Black Panthers? Are the Palestinians who blast rockets into Israel part of a hate group? Almost all left wing groups either hate, are violent, or both, yet they're the first ones to accuse the right of doing exactly what they do to an even higher degree.

I'm for freedom of association. I don't believe in the idea that a business owner must serve everybody. I think they should be able to pick and choose. However, that belief is rooted in individual freedom, Jeb's position is rooted in homophobia.
