I do find it interesting that ICE has complete discretion in these cases and choose to do this. Since this happened in a very liberal state one wonders if this is not just a setup for shock value and negative headlines.

Some of the hardest working people I've met have been illegal aliens. I completely believe that the immigration process needs to be streamlined. Having said that - illegal is illegal. Every job they take is a job an American citizen could have taken. Not only that, but then the American citizen is likely to end up on welfare if they don't find work, so now I'm supporting the jobless citizen while the illegal takes the job. Illegals also use resources they're not contributing to (via taxation) - everything from roads to hospital care when needed. I don't think that's fair to taxpayers, or immigrants who did it legally.

PS illegals absolutely work construction. And roofing, domestic work, landscaping, the horse industry, farming, fruit picking....

 

I would defer such specifics to the public that overwhelmingly supports a path to citizenship

So he pays taxes. That represents money he stole from citizens by taking their job. The illegal alien can be just as hard-working, law-abiding, loving, and tax-paying in his own country. Illegally move into one of their countries and see what happens to you. It won't be anything nice.

 

I'm tired of putting up with illegals. They flood my kid's school and demand education in their native language, fill my emergency rooms, consume my tax dollars in welfare, and require more police to handle their behavior. I've lost 3 friends to their drunk driving. When they can give me my friends back, I'll consider letting them stay.

I guess the whole family in the OP can move to Mexico together. I think we should adopt the same immigration policies that Mexico has.

The employers giving the illegal immigrants the jobs should be made to stop then. I can't blame the immigrant for taking a job offered to him. He's just trying to survive. I suspect most of them wouldn't come to America if they knew they couldn't find jobs.

Maybe Trump should go after the employers giving jobs to illegals as aggressively as he's going after illegals.

Of course, as we have seen in recent egregious cases, it is sometimes the undocumented who establish businesses - and create jobs for citizens - that are then victimized by zealous federal bureaucracy.

 

Yeah funny thing about that.... we have something called e-verify, and when someone wants to implement it they are called racist and bigoted, and it's not allowed to happen. When it does happen, the calls of racism and bigotry continue.

I'd heard stories about that. I can't imagine moving my future children to France or Mexico and then demanding the schools there teach my children in English.

Something has to be done to stop the flood of illegal immigrants, I agree. I just prefer it be something other than ripping apart law abiding immigrant families who've been here for many years. That just makes America look cruel.
