The whole point of propaganda is to get other people to take it seriously And further propagate the message. So in that sense a suspect ip address is only the smallest part of the problem

It is an unfortunate reality that both sides of our hyper politicized body politic are more than willing pawns of any narrative that damages thier hated opponent. Be it about ***** grabbing or a kiddie porn ring run out of a pizza parlor

When people want to validate their contempt, it is easy enough to contrive a story that serves that purpose. Then these people become carriers who enthusiastically spread the infection

Why? Just asking a question that pertains to the thread topic. Surely he can answer it.

Which is why I left the mod position as my views on improvements were not received well and I could not operate effectively in the environment as it then was.

How do you know that? Evidence? When you say Russian troll do you mean a Russian government operative or just a Russian citizen with no ties to the Russian government but who liked to post pro Russian threads? There is no rule against a Russian citizen posting whatever they want so long as they are following the rules.

Ah, guilt by association. I do not remember having an issue with you, Ronstar or Above Alpha. Perhaps you are confusing me with another mod.

During my time as a mod I saw no evidence of Russian agents infiltrating the forum but that does not mean that Russian agents did or did not infiltrate the forum. I also never had the feeling that the mods above me and the admin were somehow in cahoots with Russian agents or otherwise turned a blind eye to them.

Unless the rules have changed there is no rule against posting propaganda as I see propaganda here from the left and the right on a daily basis. So why should a Russian or a citizen from any other country who has no ties to a foreign government not be allowed to post propaganda?

Pretty funny to watch the left become McCarthyites in their old age.

I agree, but when it comes to propaganda most of the propaganda I see comes from the left and the right. If the forum were to crackdown on propaganda then they would have to recruit many more mods and delete a vast volume of posts and threads. Also what constitutes propaganda is subjective and just defining propaganda in an enforceable way would be a monumental task.

    Propaganda

1 capitalized :a congregation of the Roman curia having jurisdiction over missionary territories and related institutions
2 :the spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person
3 :ideas, facts, or allegations spread deliberately to further one's cause or to damage an opposing cause; also :a public action having such an effect
    https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/propaganda

So based upon the above definition are the mods to start limiting the spread of ideas and information that helps or injures an institution, a cause, or a person? If so which ideas and information is to be allowed and which are to be blocked? How about ideas or facts that further one's cause or damages the cause of another? Which are to be allowed and which are to be blocked?

    I agree
The best propaganda is sufficiently insidious to evade counter measures

The irony is palpable. They have spent tens of millions of propaganda money over the last 5 decades decrying, mostly EXAGGERATING, the McCarthy witch hunt (a whole three years or so that faded away quickly of its own) in all forms of media, "journalistic" and fictional (bad movies that no one watches about the horrors of the blacklist), that threatened their pink core in the day, DESPITE fairly recent Russian releases that there was more than a small nugget of truth to his claims. Apparently "muhrussia" is cycling around through journolist or whatever the LW sewer pipe gets its marching orders from this week, and they don't see or don't care about the complete hypocrites it makes them. Now I see on the broader net that facebook ads unduly influenced an election where one of the candidates spent 1.2 billion. HILLARITY!

I guess I can't blame them, their party is thoroughly imploded, their MSM branch has become a manic shriekfest, and their "anointed perpetual victim" of a candidate is going around shifting the buck oblivious to the damage she and the other moonbats are doing to their credibility with the American voter. Bad Day at Black Rock for the LW Complex, with Trump as Spencer Tracy.

If "muhrussia" is all they got, fine.

I don't think it's fine at all. The mass hysteria and McCarthyism have totally destroyed news coverage. I've been a news junkie all of my adult life and now find it almost unwatchable with the constant hysterical panels of Russia Russia Russia. I had to turn of MTP Daily just this afternoon because they are going so Bat S crazy.

When the social history of this era is written, it's going to read like the Salem witch trials.

At least on here, the Russians have been pretty obvious. I doubt they actually changed people's minds, but I think that's in the outside world as well. I do think that the Russians messed with our elections, but I don't think it really made a difference, and I don't really think they cared who won. Their goal (which unfortunately was successful) was to undermine our electoral process and wreak chaos with the next President, whoever it happened to be.

We need to determine what viewpoints we disagree with, and then rather than labeling it "right-wing", label it "Russian inspired" and then ban it.

They have yet to come to grips with the fact that they picked a lame horse, ran her through a rigged primary, she lied the entire time, insulted American voters the rest of the time and then, wonders of wonders, LOST!

The above is a "maniac shriekfest", and the facts are this: Trump will be caught and the Alt Right cannot do anything more now than what it has before.

I must say, and I mean no disrespect here, that I thought far more of the Yanks posting here would be brainwashed by the insane U.S. media.

It's heartening to find that so many of you here are anything but.

FB's Russian problems were through their ad system. People posting on a forum isn't the same thing. Most of our folks are established posters who have posted about things other than Russian interests. So no, we probably shouldn't use this story as an excuse to malign our fellow forumites.

. . . I love this movie. I thought I was the only one who loved this movie.

The few Russian trolls here are well known and ridiculed. They are actually rather pathetic in their feeble thrashing.

I noticed a lot of missing "hillary is a lock" posters since Nov 8th.

Not sure if they were all Russian or not.

I would say less than 5 posters, are of Russian origin. I can only think of like 2, and theyre not even good.
