If a majority of the criminals looked like me, I would not blame the cops for profiling me. I would expect them to profile me. I would also profile people who looked like me. I would be especially harsh with them if they proved to be criminals - more so than if they did not look like me. I certainly would not blame everyone else, who did not look like me, for suspecting and/or profiling me. I would reserve my ire for those actual perpetrators who look like me.

You say that now - but I guarantee that after the third or forth time you got hauled into a special TSA screening or pulled over while driving, your attitude would change.

I'm black and i never got pulled over. In fact I'm in contact with law enforcement frequently and never been suspected of anything.

I don't think all cops target all blacks. Seems to me, any police officer worth his pay, can quickly tell who the bad and good characters are. My problems, well not really problems as much as annoyances, comes from my hair. When I have let my hair grow long, over my shoulders, I often found myself watched and followed by store security guards. When I cut my hair short, those same security guards reacted differently towards me.

Every single person on Earth profiles every day....we call it having a life. I profile when choosing friends, walking downtown....everywhere I go and you do too. There are those I will avoid due to experience and some by perception, some due to appearance and some just because they put off a "Bad Vibe"...if that offends you well, too freakin' bad, self evaluate as to why.

I am a Bigot toward nasty people regardless of skin color.

Disagree. If a majority of criminals looked like you, then profiles should be based on behavior and other means of narrowing down. Because looks would be too broad a category at that point.

Don't be fooled by a democrat if they tell you they support law enforcement. They march against them. They constantly slander them. Every time a cop does something that could be racist, democrats rush to the forum to make threads that try to paint all cops and Americans as evil racist Nazis.

If a democrat tells you they support law enforcement they are lying to your face.

Do you find something odd about that?

Watch COPS and tell us what similarities you find amongst the criminals on that show.

They all have some similar characteristics.

If you are looking to buy drugs are you going to go up to the black guy who looks like a thug or are you going to go up to the soccer mom carrying around 2 children?

Who do you think is your best bet to score from?

I mean this is what profilers in the FBI do for a living.

They build profiles based on past experience and it helps them solve crimes.

Its an actual science and its real. So yeah, if you look or act a certain way you will draw more attention to yourself.

I find nothing wrong with this at all.

Young and male, if statistics are anything to go by.

When I was younger I got stopped and questioned from time to time on the pretence of "we've had reports of burglaries in the area". Friends with newish, niceish cars were regularly stopped and asked to prove that the car was theirs. That never happened to me in my Pageant Blue 1981 Austin Allegro 1.3L ;)

What do criminals look like Spooky?

And that's not exactly how profilers work.

What type of crime are you referring to?

If you were looking for a person cheating the stock market would you canvas the inner city of Detroit?

You probably wouldn't find what you are looking for there, that is profiling.

If you were looking for a serial killer would you look for black women?

Doubtful you will catch your killer unless you are looking for a white guy in his 30's.

    That is profiling.

If you are store security and watching for shoplifters are you going to focus on the mother with two kids or the two teens in baggy clothes just wandering around the store?

    That is profiling.

You wouldn't go looking for someone cheating the stock market? That's not exactly how that investigation goes.

If the evidence pointed to a black woman.

Gives that mother more opportunity for the old 5-finger discount.

Certain types of people fit certain profiles because historically that's the way it is.

This is proven science, not sure why you are questioning me about this.

Its used by law enforcement all over the world because it helps narrow down suspect lists.

I'm sorry you are unaware of it.

If you have 10 stolen bikes and you find that 9 of them were stolen by Chinese men who would you bet stole the 11th one?

Not a sure thing but it gives you a good starting place.

Well, that's psychology. Not the strongest of the sciences.

If someone stole ten bikes, and 9 of those people are Chinese, do we stop and question all the Chinese people? Do we pull over all the Chinese people and search their cars?

    What do you suggest?

    Why would you do that?

But if you have 3 suspects and one is Chinese it would make sense to focus on that person first.

If you have no suspects it would make sense to look at Chinese first.

Nothing racial about it, its just using probabilities to increase your chance of success.

That's a good question. Why you do that?

Like pull them over or stop them in the street?

So do you advocate pulling people over based on whether they look like they'd be a criminal?

    Absolutely.

I wonder how many they would catch doing that?

They can pull me over also, a couple of minutes and I'm out of there, no big deal to me.

Let me ask you this, do you have a problem with DUI checkpoints?

No. DUI checkpoints are indiscrimant. They pull everyone over.

How many times have you been pulled over in the past 8 or so years? How many moving violations have you received?

More than the average person I can tell you that.

    I usually get flirted with.

    Zero moving violations.

I'd say that at least every other month I get pulled over, usually once a month.
