"Donald Trump’s plan to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border did not come from security analysts following years of study or through evidence that a wall would reduce illegal immigration" "Joshua Green had good access to Trump insiders, including Sam Nunberg, who worked with Stone. “Roger Stone and I came up with the idea of ‘the Wall,’ and we talked to Steve [Bannon] about it,” according to Nunberg. “It was to make sure he [Trump] talked about immigration.” “Inside Trump’s circle, the power of illegal immigration to manipulate popular sentiment was readily apparent, and his advisers brainstormed methods for keeping their attention-addled boss on message. They needed a trick, a mnemonic device. In the summer of 2014, they found one that clicked.” "Roger Stone and Sam Nunberg are political consultants. Neither man has claimed expertise in immigration policy, particularly the complex issue of deterring individuals from attempting to enter the United States illegally. https://www.forbes.com/sites/stuarta...F#c68d5af44156 Now would that be like Stan guiding Oliver, or, Moe advising Curly? Is it any wonder now Trump has himself stuck with no off ramp?
Someone said that illegal aliens should go back to the end of the line. Why would anyone stand in line if they could sneak their way to the front.
My guess is that he may have been influenced by the wall that Israel built to keep the Palestinians out. Interesting, though... the Israelis never have finished completion of that wall, and it's a HELL of a lot shorter than the 1,550 mile-long monstrosity that the president wants to build on our southern border. I do not doubt that he has the best of intentions -- but such a wall as that would be horribly expensive to build, maintain, and, to STAFF! Think about it.... "Hmmm... now, exactly where AM I supposed to rent an apartment where it won't me take three days to get to work...?"
That's a good one. The Would you be a lamb and walk me through your logic and don't be afraid to use layman's terms, I promise not to be offended. It's difficult to see how a shutdown of the government ( even partial ) equals high gear. It seems like a false equivalence fallacy of the most obvious kind.
Why are Illegal border crossings reduced to nearly zero everywhere wall goes up? Why do Liberals oppose illegal crossing being reduced to nearly zero? Him,.,
There’s no such thing us government shutdown. There’s presidents prerogative to approve or veto the budget, which president exercises. If president does not like the budget, he does not approve it. If he does not approve it, non essential government employees go home for vacation and stay home until president gets the budget he likes! How do you like them layman terms?
No worry, President Trump has a plan that will please. He will build the barrier with steel made in the USA and to appease the "green energy" crowd he will electrify it with photo voltaic solar panels topped with concertina wire strung between wind turbines.
Oh I liked them just fine. Although it still missed the mark, I did ask how he was in high gear? And what process you spelled out would be the sloooooww process, or more accurate to the analogy .......low gear. But thanks for the effort I do appreciate your continued support.
I wish it were that simple... I really do. I've lived in that country, jeeped through that country, and I know what that country and its climate does to things -- and people. I still say that armed surveillance drones, 'flown' by miltary 'pilots' in command centers), coordinating with troops/agents in rapid-response squads on the ground, and, antipersonnel devices (lethal and non-lethal) is the only practical answer. Keep it fast, keep it mobile, keep it cost-effective, and make it WORK, and not just some ridiculous 'cosmetic' initiative. I've been yelling this from the 'rooftops', but nobody listens. And so our political 'theater' continues -- a "tragicomedy".... I invite anyone who thinks I'm wrong to get in a Jeep, with LOTS of extra water, weapons, ammunition, spare gasoline cans, and food, and drive as closely to the border as you CAN from Del Rio, Texas to Nogales, Arizona. By the time your trip ends, if you make it, you will forget all about any idea of a "Wall"....
Dems are using folks as pawns by refusing to compromise with the president. Build the wall, and then get something else the dems would really like in return. What's so hard about that? By just flat out saying "NO!" it is the dems who are using folks as pawns, not the president.
Once an illegal immigrant steps foot on American soil, democrats will find a reason that Illegal immigrant should stay. Stopping them from crossing is key. Catch and reliese does nothing. A huge waist.
From "Island of the Mad" by Laurie R. King. Setting is 1920's Italy. """But the fascisti are less concerned with theory than they are with raw power. If one plays on fear, takes away any remotely complicated ideas, and offers people a sense of confidence and right, one's followers will beat to death any enemy they are pointed at.""
True. If the American people ever see the truth of illegal immigration they will take matters into their own hands.
he got the idea while watching history documentation on Great Wall of China, of course like everything he does, half bake. he didn't watch the entire shows, and missed how mongol invasion.
High tech approaches have been tried and have not proved to be effective by themselves either. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/obama-administration-ends-high-tech-border-fence/ At the time when Boeing began this project, it sounded expensive, was expensive and sounded to me like a project that would never be finished. Probably the best and most effective approach will be a combination that includes a substantial physical barrier with enhanced technology such as drones, ground sensors and probably much more concertina wire. We also need more boarder patrol offices and continuing maintenance of the system. It needs to be taken as serious as maintaining a pipeline from leaks or painting the Golden Gate Bridge, a never ending task.
