    Jun 06, 2018 · From “De-Ba’athification” in Iraq to “De-Shi’afication” in Syria

Of the dozens if not scores of tactical, strategic and fundamental mistakes the US made in Iraq after illegally invading and occupying the country in 2003, was a strategy which sought to inflict a punitive socio-political and economic disenfranchisement of the Sunni Arab population of the Arab…

The Syrian government would be in charge, which means the US is protecting the oil fields from being taken back by their legitimate owners. It's called thievery! But then again didn't Clinton steal Kosovo from Serbia. Seems our criminal mind set goes back a while.

Isn't that what I meant when I said the Kurds are persecuting the local Arabs who are probably Shias? Boy you have a comprehension problem.

You're right Margot! We did do that in Iraq and put the Shias in charge. The Sunnis if I recall correctly, ran into Syria - so where's the Sunni gratitude towards Assad?

Most of Eastern Syria is Sunni.

Assad signed over control of Syrian oil to Russia last year.

Trump is just shooting off his mouth.. America is NOT going to steal any of Syria's oil.

Syria hasn't done ANY reserve management in well over a decade. It will cost several billion dollars to update failed reserves that may produce as much as 300,000 bpd when everything is done.

Assad wanted to purge Syria of Sunnis.. He sides with Iran. You don't "recall correctly".

From what I noticed Assad's government is all inclusive. He did allow the Sunnis to enter from Iraq and I recall the US being furious over it, so again I ask you, where is the gratitude - or is that a no-no in that part of the world?

The Sunnis in Syria might have been enticed into gaining more power in Syria, so I wouldn't blame Assad for wanted to get rid of them. When the jihadists started entering from the Gulf and the Sunnis realized they would be under sharia law, they rejoined Assad's army.

    What "jihadis from the Gulf"?

Syria has always had a Sunni majority.

    What are you talking about?

Russia has satellites proving that the US was stealing Syria's oil, so stop trying to cover up the theft by saying that Syria has no oil. From what I read, our criminals in Washington are using the funds to pay their agents in Syria.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the US makes about $ 30 million a month (about 27 million euros) in profits from this illegal trade. With such a lucrative business with no taxes and no state control Washington will probably want to exploit the oil fields forever, opines Konaschenkov.

ISIS, Al Nusra and the FSA. You know the ones who went around beheading Christians, Alawites, Yazidis and children. How quickly we forget.

The world is running out of oil so any oil at this point will be helpful. It's sad so many people are against nuclear power, the only viable alternative to fossil fuels. Green energy is still light years away.

At the moment we seem to have a glut of oil on the market, but I agree re: nuclear.

I expect the Saudis will have a nuclear power plant soon.. They have been looking at a two-fer.. a nuclear desalination plant that produces cheap electricity as a by product.

They aren't from the Gulf, Jeannette. The Gulf States are prosperous and have education, healthcare, clean water and job opportunities.

Aside from being conservative, they aren't nationalistic or militant.

You need serious oppression for people to put everything at risk including the lives of their children.. homes etc.

Yeah, but for who, certainly not for the Palestinians who weren't allowed to become citizens of Saudi Arabia and whose leaders the Saudis pay to keep them in poverty so they will keep on fighting to restore Jerusalem to Islam.

I didn't see them inviting the Syrian refugees into Saudi Arabia either, and yet they supported them with vast sums to go to Europe and propagate Islam - while at the same time they supported the terrorists in Syria, so they could ethnically cleanse the Christians and Alawites and impose Wahabbism and sharia law on the country.

These are the things that bankrupted Saudi Arabia and not just the war in Yemen, but you know that.
