Trump may want to be a dictator, but I think the American people would never allow that to happen, you can rest easy

I do not think any patriot act type laws have been passed yet during this crisis, not sure any will be

the closest we have is the one enacted to allow Trump to force businesses to make ventilators and supplies - but that is an old law

I never said that as a matter of fact I am for reducing the risk to others that my be put in harm's way. That is why I favor reduced contact spacing and when going into places of business wearing an uncomfortable mask.

Really, someone asks for you to give spacing, reduce travel etc and you have lost your freedom. You can still go out, buy food, do many things. I think it is time people focused on defeating the virus and helping those that can not work. That will be the fastest way to get every freedom back.

Yes, it is a serious question. It may seem stupid to you, but I'm looking for an explanation.

I'm not saying that at all. Let's follow your train of thought. Everything goes according to their plan and they are in complete control. What now? They will end the lockdown because it's good for their bottom line and consolidation of power to have people working for them (ideally in some form of debt slavery). The lockdown is over, dystopia complete. Yay?

You can't have an active quarantine of the infected if you can only test 5% of the population and many people aren't symptomatic.
And given what's happening in Brazil right now (they decided against any precautions) you can't really say that ignoring the infection would
have been just as effective in your area.

Given we've had two pandemics in about ten years, we better start taking them seriously and coming up with plans for future pandemics.

No - I simply operate under the premise that your rights end where my nose begins, and if you think it's your right to infect others, then you think
that your rights supersedes the rights of everyone around you.

This will be the beginning of the end of all rights.

Berating the people who paid for those "collective services" for using those collective services falls flat on its face Yes, we did pay for that, and we deserve to get our money's worth out of them.

    That's not how it's done.

A dictatorship is always installed with the consent of a very large part of the population.

Trump could easily convince his followers that the elections should be postponed indefinitely considering the pandemic.

Trumpsters would even take to the streets to support him.

This virus will have the opposite effect. People in the cities are going to move to the more rural areas so as not to be trapped in a city if/when the next pandemic happens.

They have difficulty getting grade school students to obey force now, much less adults.

Pretty sweet prison. So this week I went to the beach and chilled, plays golf, had a nice meal. Social distance and proper hygiene.

My right to infect others? You mean by simply existing and living a normal life? Yes, I do have that right, despite your tortuous mischaracterization of it.

Except there isn't a "right" to live without risk of disease. That risk comes with being a member of the human race. Freedom of movement, freedom of association, freedom of commerce, on the other hand. Those rights are basic tenets of western civilization. You've placed a fake right, one that is simply impossible to realize without destroying society, ahead of actual rights that form the basis of our civilization.

All because of a virus that kills less than 0.5% of people it infects?

I have no idea how you plan to have a civilization going from here. Because the premises you're arguing from make a free society an impossibility. There is no way we can enjoy the blessings of liberty if the premises from which you're arguing become established politically. Nothing will ever be "safe" enough for you. There will always be some risk that justifies draconian responses and enlarged government.

Evidently to the doom and gloom crowd going out in public with the flu or call a cold now viooates the rights of others.

People really don't understand the concepts of rights, do they?
