    Biden will have no balls if he does not go down that route if there is no conviction. The Caligulan must be wiped from the political map in the USA.

    He is a scourge, and that will become more and more recognised as time passes.

    You guys are really afraid of him, aren't you? And you should be. People already have buyer's remorse about Biden and probably would never vote for him a second time. Harris is despised by both sides. Trump got 75 million votes, no one in their right mind believe Biden got 80 million. No one.

    Who is the left going to tap to run for president 4 years from now? Whoever it is, Trump is going to destroy him (and it won't be a her)

    I don’t really care much about conviction in the senate — it actually looks worse on Republicans in a historical context to do nothing — I just hope Biden allows the nearly dozen criminal investigations into trump and his family to go forth.

    If they change the name of the investigations to Benghazi or email maybe the Republicans can get behind them.

    It would be a judicial matter, a conviction of insurrection and aimed at former members of the Confederacy. When Trump is convicted in court of insurrection let me know. The role of Congress is to vote by 2/3 to reinstate that persons right to hold such office. They can't put someone on trial for the crime of insurrection. Professor Ackerman needs to bone up on the 14th.

    The 14th with appropriate clause highlighted

    Section 1.
    All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

    Section 2.
    Representatives shall be apportioned among the several states according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each state, excluding Indians not taxed. But when the right to vote at any election for the choice of electors for President and Vice President of the United States, Representatives in Congress, the executive and judicial officers of a state, or the members of the legislature thereof, is denied to any of the male inhabitants of such state, being twenty-one years of age, and citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged, except for participation in rebellion, or other crime, the basis of representation therein shall be reduced in the proportion which the number of such male citizens shall bear to the whole number of male citizens twenty-one years of age in such state.

    Section 3.
    No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any state legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any state, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

    Section 4.
    The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any state shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.

    Section 5.
    The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.

    I think there may be a few minor ones still going in New York state but the ongoing FEDERAL criminal investigation is into the Biden family among other things the Obama/Biden administration did.

    But I guess you are OK with House impeachment just being a political tool from here on out, just something to tag your opposition with.

    You accidentally put a four instead of an eight. Democrat incumbents don’t have the issue of reelection like Republicans do.

    trump didn’t get 75 million votes, he got 74.2

    You are right that no one believes Biden got 80 million votes, we know that he got 81.2.

    As to buyers remorse why is Biden’s aggregate polling numbers higher than they were on Election Day? I know why <insert conservative conspiracy theory or “deep state”>. It must be wonderful to live in a world where one can excuse any inconvenient fact with a repetitive a no thought lie. I guess it makes the collective cognitive dissonance easier.

    And yes. We are terrified of trump — simply because of what he has done to our nation so easily. An entire political party has gone from one of dirty politics to outright lies, conspiracy theory, anti-science, anti-truth, anti-democracy.

    It should terrify anyone that cares for this nation.

    it isn't that they are afraid of him, though they are, it is that they need him. the longer they can keep trump on the front page, the longer they can forestall admitting they have nothing more than their hatred of half of the american population. we, those of us who don't condemn others merely because we disagree with them, are the deplorables and the drones can't help but see us as worshipping trump. they simply can't understand that we see him as merely a man with some good ideas. they worship at the altar of progressivism and can't comprehend that their opposites don't have the same sort of reverence. they need the "evil within our midst" to justify this hatred and having trump front and center keeps them from having to admit the failure of their own ideologies. we went through eight years of this with obama. everything was traced back to bush's failures and nothing was allowed to stick to the administration of our first affirmative action president. we can expect more of the same during biden's tenure in office and the longer they can keep trump in the public eye, the more willing the drones will be to accept the obvious stupidity of their accusations. "anti-truth", "anti-science", "anti-democracy"... these are the accusations of those who cling desperately to an ideology of failure. this is a mantra that requires no thought or reason, merely the blind acceptance of falsehood and baseless accusation. they merely repeat "trump is the devil" and take comfort in the moral high ground that they have imagined for themselves.

    On this, I agree with you 100%.

    81 million Americans were terrorized at the idea of Trump's second term.

    And even after a solid electoral defeat, the country came very close to having an authoritarian regime installed by Trump.

    So yes, people who aren't intoxicated by the propaganda of a dangerous demagogue are very afraid that his personality cult will get him off again.

    But after only 20 days of a Biden presidency, it seems that Trump's chances of coming back to haunt the country are dwindling by the day.

    I don't have a crystal ball to know what the outcome will be, heck even OJ was found innocent. Trump no longer has anyone or any office to protect him, and his inciteful rhetoric will stand against him in trial.

    There won't be a 'Plan B' from Congress after the impeachment trial based on the evidence currently at hand. There is a limit to how far this will get pushed. Biden wants more focus on his legislative agenda and repeated attempts by Congress to ban Trump from future elections won't achieve that.

    There are things that will happen, however. First there will be multiple individuals tried and an FBI investigation, plus whatever the DC cops do. Expect Congressional inquiries into the Capitol riot. How many did Benghazi get? Was it 11 investigations? This event won't get that many, but it will get further investigation. Then there will be whatever civil & criminal charges Trump may face for many & varied things. He will be busy.

    As always, I urge every Trump supporter to give everything they can to aid his defence. I'm not just talking about a few bucks here. All your savings, the kids college fund, even mortgage the house. Please. Trump has already taken your self respect, might as well give him all your material goods too. He deserves it more than you.

    Anyone who votes for a 78 year old president is an idiot. I see no reason to open this door. If the dems go down this route, every POTUS with an opposition Congress will be subject to it in the future.

    Yes, I posted about this last week. Declaring him unfit to hold office only requires a simple majority. And it says nothing about requiring an impeachment conviction first.

    Trump is dangerous just as any other cult leader can be dangerous. But the amount of death and brain damage he has caused is slowly dawning on many former trump supporters.

    A lot of professional psychiatrists are suggesting trumpers should seek professional help to be deprogrammed.
