Ahhh the PRESIDENT told them not to worry this would not happen, that no way the Taliban would take over and the Afghan security forces would simply overwhelm them. See my sig.

We'll get most of them back. After a few dozen are caught and tortured and beheaded the Obamiban will reach out to their friend Jomualllahl Mohammaed Biden and arranged for ransom. Probably $5 million USD per America, and we might even get a wholesale rate. Of course for every 10 that comes out of hiding and surrenders to the religionofpeaceiban we'll have to accept that 1-2 of them will be beaten beyond recognition and probably killed by their handlers. That's just the price of doing business with the people that progressives will eventually start demanding we accept into America by the millions as part of a second carefully orchestrated 'refugee crisis'.

Real talk: is the price we're going to pay to get these Americans home worth it? I mean if you're not wearing a uniform or serving as a civilian contractor to the military what the **** are you even doing in that **** hole? Is this not the very fate they knew they could meet by going to the Muslim 3rd world in the first place? Whats our obligation here, really?

Yes some were obviously lazy others may have had nefarious reasons. Certainly some may have been performing some contractual obligations, but not understanding that they needed to be ready to leave is no brainier.

Wow wow wow, that's some scary crap right there. Brilliant minds behind this. Hey come to the port we've probably got some planes. Don't forget though there's a bunch of bad guys blocking the entrances but if you make it we'll let you onboard.

FYI, when I was a DoD contractor, anyone who went to Afghanistan or Iraq were not allowed to leave the base. Outside the cities and the bases, it has always been unsafe for USA citizens.

Not being aware of the situation is as lazy and stupid as one can get.

This is the closest account I've read:

"Some are residents, journalists or aid workers who may not want to leave. Most are scrambling to escape. Some are dual nationals or children of Americans who may not have the proper passport or visas, but the State Department has not told them how to fix their paperwork."

I would say the dual nationals are at most risk.

God bless the ones that are there, I truly am praying for their safety because as we've seen over there no one is above being murdered or tortured.

Oh, no! Over 10 thousand Americans are trapped inside hostile territory. They will be brutally murdered, become hostages, or if they are women or children they will be sold into sex slavery. :(

It wasn't necessary to go there.
That's my question. Did somebody make a cute brochures about Afghanistan that I missed? Wasn't there a "no fly" rule for that part of the world or is that just Mexico?

On August 15 The New Duranty Times reported that one Defense Official estimated that there could be 20,000 Americans trapped in Afghanistan. Last night, CBS News reported 11,000. Obviously, the media doesn't know for certain.

There are many reasons why it would be difficult for the media and public to get an accurate count of the number of civilians trapped in Afghanistan right now, but that's more of an issue for the government than the public. Right now it's enough for us to know that there are anywhere between 10-20,000 of our countrymen there, and presumably the vast majority of them want out and we want to get them out. Bottom line, the number is obviously unacceptably high, but the number is not the critical issue confronting us right now.

The notion that one side - i.e., the Biden Administration - didn't mess this up is ludicrous. Biden was not bound to the terms negotiated by his predecessor and his administration has had 6 months to get all the civilians out. I applaud him for taking responsibility for his decision to get out of Afghanistan but he deserves criticism for his failure to execute, and he has no excuse for failing to execute. In another country this would be grounds for resignation.

As for the question why he failed to execute, the answers are plain and obvious, either A) apathy B) incompetence or C) all of the above. Clearly, this wasn't a priority for Biden and his administration and just as clearly Biden woefully underestimated the Taliban. If you answered C - all of the above - you answered correctly.

Unfortunately, the entire premise of your analysis is flawed. This logistics involved in this operation have to be executed before evacuation has a chance of becoming a problem - i.e., before the Taliban started its blitzkrieg - not "remedied" after you failed to prevent it from becoming a problem. Military officials in the Pentagon warned the White House about this but obviously Biden & Co. did not heed their warnings.

Re-engagement is a product of failed policy, period. That conversation should not be happening, but it is.

America did not blow this - Joe Biden and his advisors blew it, and they know it. That's why the administration and its supporters are in Full Damage Control Mode right now.

The Biden administration really screwed the pooch on this. They should, at the very least, have done the preliminary paperwork for processing those Afghanis who have been helping us for 20 years. As for the process of getting them out: don't we have any logistics engineers in our military? What the eff was the plan?

In fairness, though .... any American citizens who are still there, knowing full well that we were pulling out, should have gotten their own asses home months ago. And I don't trust Fox's count of 15k.

It’s been reported the Taliban has shut off access to the airport and an evacuation plane left with no one on it.

When did Biden say that the Taliban wouldn't take over? Got a link?

See #46. I can't drum up much sympathy for American citizens not getting themselves out of there months ago.

So they should have just known that Biden was lying, anyone with half a brain knew that.
