From a debate standpoint, your argument IMO, is weak, not credible, and full of holes (in which, however, could fit, some interesting discussions). Putin is already openly threatening nuclear reprisals, if NATO troops were to get involved in Ukraine, which is something that has perked up the world's ears, as something totally beyond the pale, in the speech of nations or diplomats. It has raised concerns, even within the Kremlin, and among Putin's own advisors. That Putin would extend this threat, to those imposing international sanctions, is just not believable.

Further, I will challenge you to make clear your opinion of what should be the "stiff-spined" reaction of any U.S. president (currently Biden), who was told by a Putin, against whom we had, justifiably (in the eyes of most of the world) deployed sanctions, that he was going to fire nuclear missiles our way, if we did not end those sanctions. You imply that wimpy Biden would cave. So, for the record, it is your, consider opinion, that in the scenario of a seemingly mentally-unhinged Putin, threatening us with nuclear destruction, the "strong," thing to do, would be to call him on it, hoping (presumably) that he was only bluffing?



As an interesting side note, which shows how, once one side begins using inflammatory language, it can become a self- sustaining fire, I heard on the news today, that a NATO official was commenting on a new, Putin speech, in which Vladimir, once more, brought Russia's nuclear weapons into the discussion of Ukraine, and the NATO official said that Putin, "shouldn't forget, that NATO has nuclear missiles, too."

Biden is weak as **** which is why Putin made his move now. But to be clear...Biden shouldn't do anything then what he's already doing. The problem with Biden is everyone could predict his response. Not so with Trump. Which is why this didn't happen under Trump's reign and why it's happening now. It's also why China will roll into Taiwan after a bit of time after the Olympics.

I don't want to get involved as much as anyone, but I recognize A: We're involved and B: If we get more involved sooner, we come out of it less scathed. We learned this after WWI, We learned it especially after WWII. You put out fires before they become a storm. Putin wanted a fight, the West needs to give him a fight or he'll take the fight to us and we'll be especially bruised. He's counting on us being weakened and intimidated, he's counting on us not really struggling against his hard power. He's being a bully. And there's no teachers here.
