Mostly under the territorial waters of the Azov and Black seas that Russia gains if the annex Crimea and southern coast of Ukraine.

2012 the abundance of oil and gas in the Azov and Black seas were discovered. 2013 Romania and Ukraine had deals with western companies to develop the gas and oil fields, 2014 Putin invades Crimea. Putin is now extracting gas with offshore rigs that belonged to Ukraine that he seized in Crimea.

Since 2014, I thought it was only a matter of time before Putin tried to establish a land bridge to Crimea, and here we are.

This is an updated map (from today) of the disposition of Russian forces and the territory they occupy since they bailed on their offensives in the Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts to focus their attention and forces in the east and south, and what do we see - a land bridge to Crimea:

The Russians also control the North Crimean Canal (and the territory on the other side of the Dneiper) and whatever energy resources they've seized during this campaign and the one in 2014.

All that being said, if the war ended today, I would say Putin accomplished his goal of establishing a land bridge to Crimea. In my estimation, it's now a question of whether or not the Ukrainians can dig the Russians out of the territories between Kherson and Donetsk. I fully expect Putin to order his generals to hold on to this territory at all costs in blood and treasure. If they lose this territory the entire operation will have been one enormous and humiliating failure.

It's already a failure....Nato weapons will keep pouring in unabated until the kllorads are pushed out entirely including Crimea.

Good! Victoria Nuland shouldn't have had her coup and overthrown the legal president of Ukraine. Nor should the junta be killing and ethnically cleansing the original inhabitants of the area to grab what is rightfully theirs.

Talon, now I'll tell you what Russia is really fighting. Watch the whole video, (there is an English translation), because these are the descendants of the same people who were picking up the Polish children by their legs and bashing their heads against the wall during WWII so they could grab their lands. This is also why Russia will not stop at the Donbass, but has to free all of Ukraine from these animals.

I know why Russia invaded Ukraine, Jenny. The evil, genocidal, revanchist warmonger who rules Russia decided to bring death and destruction to the Ukrainian people because he wants to steal their lives, their freedom, their land and their resources. He's an enemy of humanity and freedom the likes of which we have not seen since the mid-20th Century, when Hitler, Stalin and Mao plagued Man's existence. He's a reminder that evil still exists in the world and that good men and women must be vigilant against that evil and fight it until it is defeated.

Yeah, I know Putin is every evil in the world and the neo Nazis installed by Nuland are being falsely demonized. Terrorists are lovely people too, aren't they?

The video I posted was probably one of the videos sent to the mothers of the Russians soldiers - which was also seen throughout Russia, China, India, now Greece and who knows how many more countries in the world. In fact the Chinese were so upset with the atrocities, that they wanted to invade Kiev themselves.

A Russian on the forum once said that there is something lacking in the soil in Galicia, but I always felt they were in the occult and on drugs, and the video confirmed it. Of course it's now been blocked - as I expected it would be after I posted it, after all censorship is alive and well in the US. Horrors the American people should know what's going on in the world.

The purpose of the media I would guess is to unify and strengthen the resolve of our country. I can't think of where accuracy comes into that.

The purpose of the media is to present the news - which they are not doing.

We lie and spin that's how we go
pretending that we're in the know
and laugh at what you read and see,
    when it's our own 'reality'.

Now some might think that we're insane
    since in our lies they see no gain;
but having all in our control

is in itself our major goal.

For in our weird messianic minds,
when we control, we feel divine.
And think the world with all its lands
will soon fall in our loftier hands.

And soon you will see a land bridge to Transnistria as well. Let freedom reign. The Russians deserve it after what they went through - especially in Odessa.

Soon you will see tens of thousands of more Russian soldiers die in Putler's Anschluss Campaign, and they deserve to die by the hundreds of thousands for what they have put Ukraine through. If the failing and demoralized Russian army is lucky, it will be driven back to its Second World homeland soon, otherwise if the war drags on, it is on pace to bury 100,000 of its soldiers by next March.

Imagine that - if the war in Ukraine drags on as long as the Soviet-Afghan war, Russia will lose one million men in Ukraine, and we haven't even begun to discuss the financial costs of the war. In a month and half of fighting, it is estimated that Russia has spent over 1/3 of its entire Gross Domestic Product of $1.7T from 2021, which means the cost of the war will reach 100% of its GDP by mid-July. That's a conservative estimate, too. The higher estimates put the figure at 50% right now and reaching 100% by the beginning of June...

You're repeating the rationale of Washington's neo liberal/cons and the reason they have been trying to provoke Russia into a war with Ukraine since 2014 - something Putin knew, and why he avoided it until he realized it was a necessary evil and that Russia was well prepared for it militarily and economically.

The ones in control, thought that what worked then for the US, would work now, but there's a big difference. Russia is not the USSR and out to control and enslave nations with propaganda and brainwashing. Instead we are the ones out to enslave humanity through our bullying, sanctions, coups and regime changes - and history is never with the aggressors. So we're bound to fail.

The only thing I see the neo liberal/cons accomplishing, is the destruction of Germany and the EU. It will break up, and that is exactly what Britain and the US wants.

As for the war; putting propaganda and lies aside, the tens of thousands of troops that are being lost are not Russians. They are the Ukrainians who have been foolishly brainwashed to their own destruction.

Neither the US nor the UK nor any Western countries are bullies.

The US bombed and invaded Vietnam when it was trying to take over the World using the Domino Theory, and the US, as the world's policeman had to defend the rest of the planet.

And we saved lives. In Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos we killed between 3 million and 4.5 million, but there can be no doubt we saved some, possibly as many as 5,000.

It would be wrong to allow other countries to run themselves because they wouldn't get it right.

The fog of war may be over Ukraine, so it might be useful to look at Iraq and compare Iraq years ago with Saddam with how much better it is now.

Indeed. A mixed bag, but overall considerably better than during the years of Hussein's oppression.
