Having elected representatives saying they're OK with forcing twelve year old girls to have their dads' rape babies is pretty sicko and disgusting if you ask me.

"Mississippi House Speaker Philip Gunn says abortion should be illegal even for a 12-year-old rape victim carrying her father or uncle’s child. He made the remark to reporters in the hours after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, allowing state abortion bans to take effect."

    https://www.mississippifreepress.or...ould-birth-dads-child-house-speaker-gunn-says

I wonder if he'd still think that way if the 12 year old were his daughter and the rapist was his brother?

I heard that clip on my Lawrence O'Donnell podcast this AM and had the exact same thought (well, I didn't have the brother connection)

It's sicko and disgusting in America.... In Mississippi, it's a weekday.....

Here are some people with a solid, if potentially expensive, solution to getting women to their abortions.... good read... I really like the part about no TSA or manifests....

    https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/prop-plane-pilots-airlifting-patients-134701021.html

They need to be filling these tiny planes as much as possible to make it more cost effective...

I bet Mayor Pete could siphon off some DOT funds to refund these people for fuel....

The only thing accomplished here is the democrats declaring themselves “defenders of democracy”! But even when they intimidated justices at home, and even attempted to murder "for a cause greater than law", the justices didn't fold. So now what are you going to do? Oh, yeah. Change the rules to fit your own perverted democracy.
I don't recall seeing posts containing more howling than "RvW" and "democracy". The howler's are all about destroying democracy in order to save their version of it.
Can their calls for legitimization of voter fraud for the greater good be far behind?

Don't get so emotional, you are mischaracterizing what happened. Abortion hasn't been banned.

I completely agree. (The bolded) are sentiments I read from right leaners all the time when they talk about their desire for smaller government. But when the government passes laws that are personally invasive but along their lines of morality, they don't care that government is sticking their nose in where it doesn't belong!

Of course not... In fact, in Oklahoma, you have 15 minutes after conception to complete your abortion....

    Oh.... no you don't...

Then work to change those laws in Oklahoma. When all the panic and aggression settles down States will find their own levels and if you live in California, Oklahoma won't dictate to you.

Yes we all pay for things we don't want to but what we are talking about a sin for Christians. Being force to be complicit in the murder of an innocent human being is wrong.

If it is banned for one rape victim, one child, or one American citizen than it is too much.

How many women being forced to act as an incubator by state law will it take before you become “emotional”?

That is not what happens, and it strains your credibility to keep saying things like this.

100% the opposite... denying what's going to start happening if women cannot manage to find and use the vast resources being assembled to help them avoid that fate gives you the zero on the credibility scale...

I still think it's sort of amazing NOBODY (credible) has put the Texas bounty law to the test.... Perform a previously legal abortion then hold a press conference about it and see what happens... There will be plenty of donations to cover fees and any possible fines and nobody goes to prison...

    Yet when asked the details

"When abortion support drops: The further into the pregnancy, with AP/NORC finding 61% believe abortion should be legal during the first trimester, but only 34% in the second trimester and 19% in the third, and an April Wall Street Journal poll finding more Americans approve of 15-week abortion bans than disapprove."
    https://www.forbes.com/sites/alison...y-set-to-overturn-roe-v-wade/?sh=3cd39ae2f3a6

So actually most Americans don't support RvW if they know what RvW allows. And most Americans or a least a good share believe this ruling outlawed abortion and all sort of other things which of course it did not.

It would be a good way to test the true will of the people.

Yes the Senate represents the States and balances the representation across the country and through the various states.

You have to deal with things when they become reality and your State Government is the place to focus your efforts.

That's one way to go, for sure... Finding ways to beat and avoid restrictive, archaic, laws is another.

    I recommend both myself...

This poll presents an example of media deception that makes the results irrelevant.

The Supreme Court never assigned abortion with the status of being a Constitution right in the first place. So how can they overturn something that didn't exist in the first place?

Shame on CBS for presenting yet another BS ploy.

I think it’s our biases more than a left/right thing. We tend to let those we agree with get by with more opinion and less fact.

I’m much harder on authoritarians personally. In this case even though I’m correcting a far left abortion advocate, the correct information I presented destroys the narrative abortions were not common and mostly restricted at the time the Constitution was ratified.

I believe this is an important enough topic everyone who wants to influence policy through their vote needs to consider all the facts. This isn’t a decision we should make on feelings alone. As someone who can see the advantages and disadvantages to both the pro life and pro abortion stance I’ve observed the most passionate on both sides are the least informed.

OK, well thats pretty close to the support needed to pass an amendment to the constitution. An amendment to the constitution, btw, is whats needed to provide fedgov with legit authority to override the states on abortion.

There are several states that are implementing, are attempting to implement or have already implemented such items.

Will you vote against politicians that advocate for such?

No, it isn't a deal breaker for me either way. I've always been more influenced on what views I shared with them. The left keeps saying most Americans want abortion and that may be true but we disagree very widely on just how it should be available.

So a raped child being forced to have her rapists child “isn’t a deal breaker” for you? Is wearing masks?
