I think your confusing deterrent and boundaries with protection, although protection is relevant too. Neighbor pets, pools and plethora of other items that could cause injury or death..

Sadly there is a price to pay living in a congested envioroment.. But the same liabilities exist on property in lightly populated areas also.. There are always markers even if they are no treaspassing/danger signs hung on a wire strung along studded T posts..

I believe it was the person I originally responded to that was trying to imply protection. I pointed out the backyard walls are more for privacy. Where I grew up the houses were on top of each other and there were no walls separating each others property. We all knew where our property lines were. The only time someone had a fence was due to having a pool. My issue is more about how close all those houses are. Ugh....in my opinion that is no way to live. Even with a wall there is no real privacy.

Yes, lobbying is a problem. However, it's like what we call influence peddling. The only reason you can buy influence in Congress- is that it's for sale.
Members of Congress do not have to listen to lobbyists or accomodate them. They don't have to sell influence; that is a choice. Honor would say you don't betray the trust of the people you work for, and that is the issue.

The media is also a problem. Not long ago, the media adhered to a standard of journalistic ethics that placed truth above all other metrics. It required news and editorial opinions to be clearly separated. It wasn't
a law on the books, it was more like the hippocratic oath, a professional standard. That seems to have died. It is impossible to make sound decisions about anything without accurate information- thus the loss of the professional ethic in the media has handicapped everyone; and allowed the most illegitimate interests to gain influence over people and get support for nonsense.

The people who run to take advantage of that have two characteristics- One, they lack a moral compass, and two- they seek benefit from it, usually either profit or power or both.

The bottom line is the question of enforcing rules of honor among leaders, or allowing them to destroy it. Leaders set examples and precedents for the nation, just as parents do for children.
These things impact the way people regulate their own behavior- and we are seeing gross degradation of personal honor and character in our people
When rules of ethics and honesty aren't enforced, there are no rules, and that means ethics don't count, and honesty isn't necessary. It starts at the top. That's what leadership is for.

IF you can't hold yourself to the right standards because there is temptation, or somebody else isn't- you do not belong in a position of power or leadership.

And until recently, we required those we allowed to immigrate to bring the motivation to use that opportunity. Immigrants do not have value because they are immigrants. Those who would steal access certainly are the least likely to, they are violating laws and telling us they don't need our permission to be here. Kind of like giving you the finger as they steal your car.

I welcome honest people who will respect the laws and bring value to the door. I don't welcome those who break in and tell us we can't stop them.
The illegals are making that clear they are the latter. IF you give a damn about America, you have to know that's unacceptable.

As a signatory to the 1967 Protocol, and through U.S. immigration law, the United States has legal obligations to provide protection to those who qualify as refugees. The Refugee Act established two paths to obtain refugee status—either from abroad as a resettled refugee or in the United States as an asylum seeker.
    Asylum in the United States
Asylum seekers must navigate a difficult and complex process that can involve multiple government agencies. This fact sheet provides an overview of the asylum system in the United States, including how asylum is defined, eligibility requirements, and the application process.
    [IMG] www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org

There's a lot of info available at the link with respect to the actual asylum process. Not the process heard about from those with an interest in disinformation. After all, immigration will be a go-to issue for Repubs in the coming election cycle. And we can expect them to spew lots and lots of lies about it.

My personal feeling is the standards for qualification need to be made more strict. Something I believe is being negotiated in Congress as part of a compromise reform package.

That's an interesting reframe. I said they run Mexico. They do.

They keep the government out of the places they don't want the government to be. This is evidenced by data I posted earlier. Mexico is at the top of the organized crime list and at the bottom of the list of countries that successfully combat organized crime.

Sinaloa might not be the government, but the government looks the other way, or in some instances even promotes their behavior while simply claiming otherwise.

LOL. Never said control, but your argument was such that Congress is dishonest and therefore cannot pass bills. Therefore, I proposed to elect more qualified candidates who don't want to seek the point and click on the internet and do something that is for all people, not just the party.

Second, what you are proposing cannot even be done by USC. Those who break the speed limit should have their license revoked permanently. Is that the type of argument you are making here? For most, yes, they do keep the rules. But many Cubans broke the rules while fleeing Fidel Cuba and came on our shores. We eventually granted them humanitarian relief because, well, Cuba was a Marxist-Leninist state. Talk to Marco Rubio's family and see what they say if they should have been thrown out because they "can't keep the rules."

You are making grandiose statements without any foreknowledge, insight, or understanding. I am not going to allow the blatantly obvious or merely obvious of rule breaking into the country or allow their status to be adjudicated such as a convicted murderer or something similar. But if one is coming here for humanitarian efforts and had to come in illegally to seek that humanitarian effort, I am willing to entertain the process of that humanitarian effort. Same thing for a small child who came here with his parents. Can't punish child for what the parents have done, can you? But for the parents, I would look at the whole situation and what they have achieved or not achieved before I can decide one way or the other. If multiple EWIs, then more than likely no. But one EWI, has been here 20 years, owns a business, pays taxes, etc, then I am willing to give them a green card, but the price is no US citizenship. That is honesty Spiritguide.

At the same time, if you want your way, then I also expect that you Spiritguide, and your cohorts, to abide by the same rules. leave $1 off your tax return, and all assets are confiscated and your citizenship revoked. We can't have people who don't play by the same rules that they give others, now can we? This is your test of honesty and integrity here. Will you accept the challenge or will you use the "butt, butt, butt, excuse?"

Then you don't know much about the Sinaloa Cartel. They are very powerful in a couple of Mexican states, but not all of Mexico. You might want to look at a map every once in a while and see just how large Mexico is.

Second, for your argument, it is either the Government or Mexico or it is not. There is no in-between here. And if you are saying "Sinaloa might not be the government," then you have lost your argument by your own words.

I am not conflating anything. Gray Matter asked specifically what Family reunification and I answered. Second when you think of children, immigration law has two categories: children under 21 and children 21 and older. For USC, it can also include parents, brothers, and sisters. However, Gray Matter believed it was anyone and everyone when he originally asked the question, and I gave him the correct answer. The question was not about legal or illegal immigration, it was specifically about family reunification.

I hate to pee in your cheerios, but the government even chooses who gets in even if you are a USC. Not that common, but it can happen. One option is if you travel internationally and CBP asks for your social media accounts and passwords, you either give it to them, or you are not allowed in. That was DJT rules in which he wanted to apply to all, especially journalists and other people who are social media influencers for instance. But the point is not even USC are immune from getting denied into the country for specific reasons.

Except your are forgetting parents, brothers, and sisters for USC. LPRs are spouses, children and parents. Children can be either under 21 years old or 21 or older. Furthermore, depending on the country will depend on the wait times for those family reunifications. For India, it can be in upwards of 20 years or more depending on which priority you are seeking. That priority is all about that A number. Thus, longer wait times for legal immigration tend to lend to more likelihood of illegal immigration, generally speaking.

The incentive to seek opportunity where one is enabled and encouraged to create a better life for one's children is a very powerful one.

Have you looked at a map recently? You'd notice that Guatemala is at the southern tip of Mexico. When the Sinaloa enganchedores traffick drug mules and sex slaves into America from Guatemala, Honduras & El Salvador, do they travel through the entire length of Mexico? Yes, they do. When they do so do they have to fight the Mexican government, or are they only fighting CJNG & other cartels for control of the routes? Because the Mexican government is putting up pitiful numbers in regards to enforcement...

No we didn't import a single one. The great majority of them entered legally through a port of entry and did what is necessary to gain legal residence and citizenship. My mother, a natural born Cuban, was one of them. There was a thing called the Mariel boat lift some years ago. These people came from Cuba in boats and landed somewhere other than a port of entry. Nevertheless we intercepted them, took them into custody and put them through investigation and an immigration process. Most were issued green cards and released. Some, with criminal records, were returned. None were allowed to enter the country openly without consequence as Cubans do today.

Immigration is not a bad thing. In fact it is a very good thing. Every American other than native Americans descended from immigrants. It is illegal immigration that is the problem.

LOL, They came because we officially told them they would be given automatic residence. Yes, - imported.

They have been coming ever since the 1960s, and only a small percentage came through ports of entry. Wet Foot, Dry Foot policy was put in place in the 90s for all the Cubans coming here on boats and rafts. And yes, many came through Central America, and in the 80s we were getting 1.6 million illegals every year from the South, and many were Cubans. They came illegally and then were offered a highway to citizenship. When Obama left office that number was 400K, and by 2019 it was back to 800K again, - a 100% increase.

I don't mind the Cubans, - I even have some in my extended family.

What's funny is the left has softened what we call the illegals. First they were called undocumented immigrants, then refugees, then asylum seekers and now they're just migrants. If we use the definition of what a migrant it then it automatically is cause not to grant them asylum.

The proper names we should be using are foreign nationals, aliens and illegal aliens.

Bribed Joe's 'approval rating hit an all-time low, driven by concerns about high prices and security at the US-Mexico border, according to a new survey. Just 34% approve of' Bribed Joe's 'job performance, down from 54% at the start of his presidency nearly three years ago, according to the latest Monmouth University poll released Monday. More than two-thirds of Americans disapprove of' Bribed Joe's 'handling of inflation and immigration. Democrats, who tend to approve of the president’s policies, are divided on border security. Around three in 10 Americans say' Bribed Joe 'is prioritizing the policy issues most important to them.'

Democrat Mayors Of Virtue Signalling 'Sanctuary Cities' New York, Chicago, Denver Plead For Help As Illegal Migrant Storm Worsens
    [IMG]
"We have reached a breaking point."

They are finally getting a small fraction of what Texas has been dealing with all through the Bribed Joe Open Borders Free For All.

'Mayor Eric Adams says that quality of life in NYC will continue to decline because of the illegals: "For many months we were able to keep visualization of this crisis from hitting our streets… But we have reached a breaking point. We are no longer able to do that."'

Texas has been telling you that for 3 years and you claimed that you while they lacked compassion, that you had an abundance of compassion you would gladly shower on them, so long as they never showed up.

'In Chicago, another progressive metro area that once welcomed illegals with open arms, Mayor Johnson warned, "We have reached a critical point in this mission that absent real, significant intervention immediately, our local economies are not designed and built to respond to this type of crisis," adding "We are literally building a system as we go along."'

What do you think the border states have been doing since Bribed Joe stole a rigged election?

'Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson warns that every city service is on the verge of collapse thanks to the illegals'

Exactly what the Border States have been telling you for 3 years, but you didn't care, until you had to take care of a small fraction of what Bribed Joe has been letting in for years.

'the mayors called the influx of migrants in their cities a "humanitarian crisis"'

'the mayors, for good reason and likely fear of retribution, entirely omit that the Biden administration's disastrous open southern border policies are at the center of what sparked the invasion of millions of migrants (and individuals on the FBI's terror watch list) from all over the world into the US ahead of the 2024 presidential election cycle.'

Yes, don't mention Bribed Joe unless you want an raid by the corrupt FBI. Migrants are flooding in because Trump is favored to win, and he'll close the border, so 2024 is viewed as "last call" by the illegals, the terrorists, the drug smugglers and the sex traffickers.

'It seems that the Democratic mayors of some sanctuary cities were virtue-signaling all along. They now face the reality of a migrant crisis, a consequence of their own party's failed progressive border policies. What a mess.'
