Convince VP Pence to stop the certification or cause enough chaos to stop the certification of the States EC votes long enough to throw the decision to the House of Representatives, where each State gets one vote. Since there are more red States than blue the election would have been overturned and the Constitution subverted.

VP Pence stood strong and supported the Constitution and was ready to continue with the EC vote Certification when both the House and the Senate were driven from their chambers and forced to evacuate. VP Pence refused to leave the Capitol and his out in a basement garage until the siege was over. There were buses ready to take the House Representatives away but Representative Ruben Gallego convinced his fellow members to stay; because "if we leave they won't let us back in".

That's how close U.S. came to having the Constitution trampled on by the trump insurrection.

as for who you would trust... i think you might be surprised at the arms that are all around you. the vast majority of weapons out there are owned by average joes and chances are that you would never even know that they exist. they recognize that it is their right as american citizens and simply believe that it is better to have a weapon and not need it than to need it and not have it. or have you forgotten that those gun totting neighbors probably voted in the same elections you did. they just have the foresight to recognize the corrupting nature of power. i think i would rather trust my neighbor, who i know, than an anonymous government that doesn't exactly have the greatest track record when it comes to respecting the rights of the individual.
