That didn't take long, Fox News already blaming Biden for potential supply chain issues from the bridge collapse.

"Biden's policies will 'very quickly' cause supply chain issues after bridge collapse: Rep. Van Drew"

I don't blame Biden or anyone for the accident itself, it's a tragedy and I echo the call for Congress to pick up the tab. Maryland citizens shouldn't have to be docked higher taxes due to something out of their control.

Here's what I do blame and it precedes both Presidents: Our foreign imports. We import WAY more than we export. And foreign ships is due to our own decline in the shipping industry. It's a result of relying on the international community and our international rules-based order

Well, that did take long. So if a catastrophic fire breaks out in a school named after MLK, will the AP write how he was a homophobic abuser of women?

I'm going to turn on CNN and see how this is all Trump's fault.

Repugnant AP Tries to Inject Race Into Tragic Baltimore Bridge Collapse, Drags Up Namesake's Slavery Past

Well, that didn’t take long. The Key Bridge collapsed in Baltimore early Tuesday after being struck by a cargo ship, and the bodies of all the victims have not even been recovered yet. The economic catastrophe now facing Baltimore will certainly last months, but it has the potential to harm the region for years. Grieving families are still processing the loss of their loved ones even as investigators try to piece together what happened.

Yet the Associated Press thought now would be a good time to bring up the history of the bridge’s namesake—"Star-Spangled Banner” lyricist Francis Scott Key—and drag up his ties to slavery. Because what better time than in the aftermath of a horrific accident is there to try to make the story about racism when it has absolutely nothing to do with race?

That’s our laughingstock national press today, folks.

And how many years "immediately" do you think that will be? Biden did not say that the shipping company will not be paying. You think that the rebuild of the bridge should wait until insurance money comes in ?

They can fast track from the insurance company whatever they need. They're the US govt. Their client knocked down a ****ing bridge. PAY up, NOW!!! If not, force the shipping company to front the cash. ANd I expect Biden to pass some BLAME quickly explain its not us on the hook, AGAIN.

I'm hearing, (could be rumor) that Ukraine is going to pitch in to rebuild the bridge just as soon as they receive their next U.S. war subsistence check..

Also the illegals migrants have vowed to supply the none union labor as long as they don't have to take a boat to get there..

lol…meanwhile, back on planet earth, maga has already turned the tragedy into another hysterical political football and trump is using it to drum up more donations from his useful idiots to fund his criminal trials.

You mean they’ll do ANYTHING they can NOT to pay:) And they’ll delay and make excuses? I know exactly how it works because I’ve dealt with them. And our govt could certainly get the money quick if they WANTED!

Maybe Biden should have been more accurate and said we’ll pay for NOW but don’t worry, we WON’T be paying in the end. Or maybe he was telling the truth and we won’t see a dime. Just an accident. We have deep pockets:)

I was wondering why this was big news, until I saw the video of the collapse. And well, ****, that’s more than just a huge issue.

Also, I do find the number of keyboard engineers who don’t know basic physics and think it’s easy to get a giant cargo ship like that to just stop, very amusing.

I watched the HBO documentary on this idiot and Sandy Hook...I did not know the actual reach this con man also had and am still amazed how "some" people just "eat up the nonsense" he peddles. There are about 70 million Americans totally off their rockers.

As for this tragedy, no way to stop a monster ship like this one without a mile notice.

At RW political outlets, they are even blaming the mayor and DEI as the cause. Can't get any more obtusely stupid than that.

Seems a dictionary would help explain what accidents are about or if they were to actually do some homework, ship strikes on bridges have happened before.

DEI, seriously, WTF??!! Wasn't the ship being piloted by a Harbor Master?? Amazing but that group of people want to hear that and they want someone they can blame that reinforces the bias. Those people are the casualties of the RW (I would add fringe but isn't all RW media now fringe??!!)"media" profiting off of them.

Perhaps you could explain how the government could get the money from the insurers "immediately"?

Fox News et al. already have all their typical boogey men lined up as to who to blame for this tragedy: Biden, Buttigieg, wokesim, "diversity hires", immigrants, ... The typical red meat to feed their viewers' confirmation bias.

Now, what you won't hear on Fox: All six bridge construction workers killed in the accident were immigrants from Central America.

    https://www.marylandmatters.org/2024/03/28/the-bridge-collapse-is-an-immigration-story/

Why won't you hear it? Because hard-working immigrants doing dangerous jobs that Americans don't like to do doesn't fit the RW narrative that immigrants coming from south of the border are moochers, murderers, rapists....

    Wrong again.

Baltimore bridge collapse: Details emerge about 6 presumed dead as harrowing audio is released
Construction workers from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico reported to be among missing

A search for the six construction workers who are presumed dead following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore resumed Wednesday morning as details are emerging about their identities and the families they leave behind.

One of the missing Brawner Builders employees has been identified by Telemundo Washington D.C. as 49-year-old Miguel Luna of El Salvador, whose relatives say has six children. Two Guatemalans aged 26 and 35 are also unaccounted for, according to the country’s foreign ministry, and a colleague has told The Associated Press that he was informed the six were sitting in their trucks during a break at the time of the disaster.

What is even more ridiculous, those people who were killed, are payed very well, for night work and it is considered technical. With prevailing wages, easy $50 an hour.

That aside, these idiots can't distinguish accidents from their conspiracies, another example of their detachment from reality.

Unless negligence or malfeasance can be proved, the liability of the ship owners is limited to the post-collision value of the ship and cargo. That's according to maritime liability law.

State of emergency. They can put down a down payment. What are they going to do, claim they have no liability? They insure the ship. They can’t lawyer the way out of it. Why are you defending them?
