It's called a strawman contribution. Reimbursing someone else when they make a contribution to hide where the contribution is actually coming from.
No, he's claiming that the underlying crime the bumps the misdemeanor to a felony is a campaign finance violation. We know that the violation took place because Cohen was convicted over it.

A man apparently set himself on fire in a park across the street from the New York City courthouse where former President Trump is on trial.

Although I would admit that my post was a somewhat emotional response, it's not because someone was "triggered", but because Trump seems to believe that he is above the judges rulings, and ignores basic decency decorum. What kind of thoughtless bastard does something to possibly endanger or otherwise intimidate jurors, or even witnesses, in court cases? Oh yeah, the Giuliani "stick it to the volunteer election workers" mentality.
Jail? Trump has been warned by the judge, and would have no one to blame but himself if he were to be locked up for that. I seriously doubt he will, and that's why he continues to belittle others.
Here's a question: if Trump would do what he is doing to regular, everyday citizens, judges, witnesses and many others who in actuality have nothing to do with Trump, would he even blink at endangering other American citizens in other ways? What kind of person is he to earn the job of President?
On a sidenote: did you see the press conference he gave yesterday after court? All he did was whine for at least 10 minutes about being hindered from the campaign trail by this court case. Not once did he consider that he had the whole world's attention every day as he leaves when he could make his pitch for president.
But then again, his rallies have turned into a big whine session already anyway, so maybe it's not hindered..............
People have said they love that Trump is a fighter! HAH!
He's one of the wussiest politicians I've ever seen, nothing but whine, bitch and moan. He wants to act tough, but in reality he isn't.
    watch this:
Imagine that running the country! He's lost a few steps from even 3 years ago, and even back then he couldn't face reality!

Seeing an "audio professional" brought to mind the Cohen/Trump audio discussing Karen McDougal's 150,000 to keep her mouth shut.
Clearly Trump says "we'll pay her in cash" and Cohen answers "no no no".
Trump's defense will tell the jury Trump never said "cash".
Curious if the prosecution had that audio cleaned up?

Oh, the "***** Ass Bitch" is bitching again.

'Jury selection in Trump's hush money trial completed during tense day in court'

'Just as the remaining alternates were selected, a man set himself on fire inside the designated protest area outside of the courthouse where the trial was unfolding.'

'The five alternates who were ultimately selected Friday include an unemployed married woman who’s into art and described herself as not political, an audio professional, a contract specialist, a clothing company executive and a construction company project manager. It took four days of jury selection to find the 18 jurors.

Trump took to social media after the jury was selected to complain the judge is "'railroading' me, at breakneck speed, in order to completely satisfy his 'friends'."

There's no need for Trump to even make a showing at his rallies.
All he needs to do is show a video from one of his rally speeches from the last 1-2 years because what he says never changes.

I found out there was someone nearby that set himself on fire. What would be the reason for this? I am pleased that the Trump trial jury selection went well and we'll wait and see what goes on from there. Trump is a dangerous individual that can't be trusted, and he is weird, and I mean very weird. We just don't know what he'll do next. You may agree of disagree on this but that's is what I am thinking at this time.

Anonymous sources tell AP that the appeal filing claims that Trump is too thin skinned to be subjected to the cold court room
He claims that "everyone" is telling him that. LOL!

'Trump legal team asks state appellate court to intervene in hush money trial
    BY DAVID B. CARUSO

'Donald Trump’s legal team has filed another application with a midlevel state appeals court Friday demanding that it intervene in the case. A hearing was scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

The documents weren’t immediately publicly available, but Trump’s lawyers have gone to the appeals court before trying to get the trial delayed or moved out of Manhattan. They have argued that Trump can’t get a fair trial there because of intense publicity. The trial judge had rejected that request.'

I would say that behind the decision and act of using self- immolation as a protest there are some very serious mental issues.

On one hand I see the jury selection as a cake walk for Trump because when witnesses begin testifying against him that's when I expect him to lose what little control he has and god knows what kind of outbursts hes more then capable of having.

Remember this is the first time in Trump's life that he can't tell everyone to ****-off, get up and leave because he's pissed at what they're saying.

Officials give update outside Manhattan courthouse
    BY MIKE BALSAMO, RUTH BROWN

'The man who set himself on fire across the street from the courthouse is in critical condition in a burn unit, police said Friday.

The man first walked into the park around 1:30 p.m., took out pamphlets espousing conspiracy theories and spread them around the park before he doused himself in an accelerant and set himself on fire, officials said.

Officials believe the man had traveled from Florida to New York in the last few days.

Authorities said they were also reviewing the security protocols outside the courthouse.

“We are very concerned. Of course we are going to review our security protocols,” Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey said'.

'A decision in the appeals court is expected this afternoon'

In a brief response, the appellate chief for the Manhattan district attorney’s office, Steven Wu, accused Trump’s attorneys of mischaracterizing the jury selection process, which he described as “unusually detailed and careful.”

He added that Trump had “amplified and stoked the very press coverage” that had caused some jurors to reconsider if they could serve impartially.

“We have 18 ordinary New Yorkers ready to serve on Monday morning when this trial should begin,” Wu added. “It would be unfair to them and it would be unfair to the public for this trial to be delayed further.”

A decision on the appeal is expected this afternoon.'

    More :

"An attorney for Trump, Clifford Robert, is arguing before a midlevel appeals court that Judge Merchan has rushed through the process of jury selection in the hush money criminal case, preventing Trump from receiving a fair and impartial jury. He is arguing for an interim stay of the trial pending a motion to have the venue moved outside of Manhattan.

“The way that such a large cross section of people were immediately disqualified because of the biases they mentioned to the court is proof positive … to the predispositions of these people,” Robert said.

He described the speed of jury selection as “untenable,” accusing Merchan of failing to properly uncover bias among the prospective jurors. As an example, he cited a woman who was initially picked for the jury but asked to be removed the following day after acknowledging that she could not be fair.'

Trump unhappy at defense table while prosecutors discuss E. Jean Carroll cases

'Former president Donald Trump appears for jury selection in his trial at Manhattan criminal court in New Yor on April 19. (Curtis Means/AP)
Donald Trump’s lawyers argued Friday that nothing related to a pair of lawsuits E. Jean Carroll won against the former president should be fair game on cross-examination if Trump testifies. Carroll has been awarded nearly $90 million from Trump for defamation and sexual abuse.'

'Trump trial live updates: Appeals court refuses to halt hush money case'
    Updated 4:42 PM EDT, April 19, 2024

"An appeals court judge has once again denied a request by Trump’s attorneys to halt his criminal trial as they seek to have the case moved outside of Manhattan.

Justice Marsha Michael issued the ruling just minutes after a brief hearing. The arguments in the midlevel appeals court came hours after the jury selection process concluded in Trump’s criminal trial, which is currently taking place roughly two miles south.

The ruling will allow opening statements to take place as soon as Monday in Trump’s criminal trial.'

You havent posted a single link of any kind in the entire thread, let alone a link that identifies the crime that Bragg alleges Trump was trying to hide. As a tightly wound bundle of emotion and feelings, you dont engage in substance of any relevance to the topic of debate.

Jones filed a civil sexual harassment case against Clinton.
    1st judge threw it out.
Jones won on an appeal and filed against.
Bill settled with Jones for like 800,000.

Trump had best watch his mouth this weekend.
Yesterday, Judge Merchan gave Trump enough rope to hang himself by not addressing the prosecutor's calls for a contempt hearing until Tuesday.

    Judge Merchan admonishes Trump’s lawyers
    BY JENNIFER PELTZ
As a taxing week of jury selection and legal arguments neared an end with yet more back-and-forth over legal particulars, the trial judge told Trump’s lawyers to stop importuning him to revisit his litany of pretrial rulings.

“I’ve entertained your arguments in good faith, I’ve handed down decisions, but at some point, you need to accept the court’s rulings,” Merchan said.

“There’s nothing else to clarify. There’s nothing else to reargue. We’re going to have opening statements on Monday morning. This trial is starting.”

All eyes will be on Truth Social" 24/7.
Trump now knows who the prosecutors first witness will be and we know he has no self-control, especially when he's raging at a direct perceived enemy.

Trump lawyers plead for some notice on first witness
    Return to menu

'Just before court ended for the day, Trump lawyer Susan Necheles renewed her request for prosecutors to extend the professional courtesy of letting them know who the first government witness will be.

The two sides had sparred Thursday over the issue, with prosecutors saying they would not provide witness names in advance because of Trump’s repeated violations of a gag order barring him from talking about witnesses in the case.

Knowing which witnesses are coming is incredibly important to trial lawyers so they can prepare their questions and larger trial strategy.

This time, prosecutor Joshua Steinglass offered a possible concession: to tell Trump’s lawyers the name of the first witness. He warned them, however: “If that should be tweeted that will be the last time we provide that courtesy.”

    You spoke too soon.

I'm not sure how to introduce the latest about Trump and odors, vile, foul ,putrid odors.
So I'll just go with Ben @ Meidastouch is saying that he has credible sources in the court room who've told him this and as funny as Ben is his humor left him as he was reporting what he was told about what happens/happened when Trump falls asleep at the defense table.

It is funny, gross but funny.
Ben did say that he doesn't know if they were playing him because they know how Meidastouch feels about Trump.
Yet if it is true he said we'll hear more about it.
