George Washington Was Worth 525 Million Dollars

According to The Atlantic magazine, father of the United States, George Washington had a net worth of what today would be 525 million dollars.

Closer to modern day, progressive (liberal) icon Teddy Roosevelt was worth the equivalent of 125 million dollars.

Even closer to modern day, John F. Kennedy was worth the equivalent of 1 billion dollars. JFK lived entirely off his trust fund for his entire life.

So why do so many (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) and moan about Mitt Romney and other politicians making a ten million dollars here and there?

Frankly....I'd rather up the tax on the folks who feel entitled to Mr. Romney's money. Lower Mitt's to 10% and tax the welfare payments.

 

George Washington did not pay income taxes at all.

Neither did Teddy Roosevelt IIRC.

 

Most investment income was taxed at the normal corporate rate first. That's what a lot of liberals don't understand.

Too bad for Washington...all that money and he couldn't even send out for a pizza, have a really high tech entertainment center in his home theater, cruise the outer bank in a luxury yacht or ride in a Mercedes limo.

 

I wonder how much of Washington's net worth was "property" that had two legs, free will, and collars around their necks?

This if anything makes me respect the man less. For being "so moral" and rich, he didn't have the wherewithal to take a hit to his wealth and free his slaves until after his death. Just goes to show that it doesn't matter the time period, rich people will always choose the wrong immoral action if it means greater profit or protecting their wealth.

 

There is a whole conspiracy that shows how rich the founding fathers got from writing the Constitution and that it was nothing but a get rich scheme. It certainly accomplished that.

 

Or Presidential 2004 Democrat Candidate John Kerry,arguably one of
the richest Politicians stateside who also is about the stingiest.
Or Nancy Pelosi who reaped a net gain of 62% increase in her net worth
as Speaker.Not to mention her extravagant congressional living expense
accounts like the Bar tab alone on many private flights for her and her
clubby clique when traveling.She had fresh cut flowers arranged in her
office daily.Who paid for those.
Don't Forget the Father of this Country { George Washington } made
arrangements in his will to take good care of his Slaves and even granted
some tenant status as if the land was theirs for farming and living
off of.

 

Yet he wasn't moral enough to actually free his slaves while he was alive.

 

If he was to free his slaves what would they do.They would either
walk the land with no job or money and have to beg for food and
shelter,or steal to survive.Or become slaves somewhere else,not by
choice.You didn't think that out very well.

 

Romney made his money because his company Bain fed off millions of dollars in government subsidies that allowed them to subvert the free market and engage in unnatural corporate raiding. Romney is a true progressive liberal at heart, with an (R) next to his name.

 

He could have freed them and given them land while he was alive, but I guess making money was more important than people's freedom or being moral.

 

...and Kerry earned his money the old-fashioned way...he married it.

 

Cause leftys lust after anothers possessions so desperately, they do anything or say anything to get it....

Not me ... I don't care how much money he has ... I just question why someone who was Born on 3rd Base, is bragging about hitting Triples.

Maybe he could learn some valuable lessons from a Humble Community Organizer, Volunteer Grass Roots Leader and someone who can talk longer than two minutes without putting his Foot is his Mouth.

Get off your high horse. George Washington, like all humans, was subject to moral failings. He also had many redeeming qualities. Your attempt to paint him as a greedy and immoral caricature is just childish.
