Subpoenas from Congress to a separate and equal branch of government absolutely do. Don't worry, the Senate is going to weigh in on the bipartisan case against impeachment for this article.

Obstruction of the House of Representatives isn't a thing when it comes to the Executive branch.

    You'll see.

Sure, I mean its obvious but ok.

You don't know about any other investigations because the DoJ doesn't tell you what they're investigating when it comes to Ukraine or anything else.

You are aware that many cases of Ukranian corruption have happened since the 90's yeah?

Where's the reporting on any of the cases that happened? That's right. The media doesn't report on them.

You only know about this one because of Democrats leaking the POTUS phone call.

I doubt the Senate Reps would concur on any negative view on Trump, no matter how overwhelming the evidence could be.

Sorry, right. The Senators. Same reasoning though. Politically, why force candidates to suspend campaigns to deal with senate business, when you can use procedural tricks to set up the timing to ones own desire? It's on the same level as Mitch saying he is working hand in hand with the POTUS. Politically, it's an astute way to help his cause (though saying it out loud was pretty stupid).

And to be clear, when I say politically, I mean I disregard legalities, morals or anything other then political strategy to win.

Then what's to stop a POTUS (now or future) from basically calling EP over anything and everything they do in the 4 years they are in office on Day 1? You do realize how silly that logic is right?

Got an opinion from the Supreme Court of India on this issue? Perhaps Peru or Afghanistan might back you up?

Ah so the DOJ is investigating the Bidens and others for corruption related to Ukraine? Well, sh!@!! Why didn't trump mention it himself during any of his impromptu pressers? Why haven't I heard any of this? Who are your sources? You wouldn't be pulling this out of yes ass now, would you?

Patrick Philbin, on the President's Legal Defense Team, just said, "The Democrats are correct to note that the White House has not technically invoked Executive Privilege."

Let's try critical thought and see if you know why.

I'll give you a hint: it involves Schiff dropping the subpoenas.

You could try reading the transcript that's been out for months if you need to catch up.

No I don't need to go that far for these laughable impeachment articles.

Kinda how House Democrats would literally, and have, impeach him for whatever they can.

As Pelosi said, this impeachment has been 3 years in the making.

The answer as to why Pelosi held onto the articles and pushed through for a senate trial was to hamstring Bernie and the other people running against Biden.

You know, to actually do something to interfere in the 2020 election. Just like creating a dossier to hand to the FBI to investigate Trump, or hand Clinton debate questions in advance.

If you're aligning with the Democrat party and talking about disregarding legalities and morals with nothing other than the political strategy to win....I'd have to say thats a great joke.

Hahaha Democrats are getting destroyed today!

Schiff just got gutted like a deer and hung up on a hook by Cipollone.

53-47 to table the Schumer amendment.

This is going to be ****ing epic.

I'm not aligning. They have their own issues of corporatist corruption and the way they have dealt with Bernie. This is simply an instance where I believe they are in the right when it comes to Trump.

Just because they hate Trump doesn't mean Trump is innocent.

Be my guest. I believe you thought the Russian Collusion hoax sounded good too....but sure. Maybe this time their machinations will work.

Not looking real good for them today, and this is just getting started.

Then I'll just sit back and let you be surprised.

Honestly at this point it doesn't matter what leftists think about it. They're done.

No, but we have a Supreme Court opinion on same and it was narrow.

Things have changed since that limited opinion. Namely, in Nixon's time only one committee in the House had standing subpoena power. Today, all House committees have subpoena authority, which can largely be exercised by the chairperson alone. That's a substantial change and a notable distance from the House acting as a body.

    Interesting metric, right?

Feel free to claim victory so long as you first admit that trump has not exerted executive privilege yet, not even once, during the impeachment.

The transcript where trump was so afraid of corruption that he couldn't even bring himself to say the word.

Every yes vote is another moment of campaign fodder against vulnerable Republican senators.

during an impeachment inquiry all documents must be handed over and witnesses allowed to speak, Trump blocking them was another charge of impeachment

that power is absolute, otherwise impeachment would take years and be worthless, that is why they gave that power to congress
