They can put them in apartment buildings or group homes where professionals can tend to them. This is already being done in fits and. starts around the country.

As a conservative, I have no problem providing a safety net for society. I don’t want to fund a safety hammock for anyone.

I will tell you the homeless on the Southern California coast will choose a tent near the beach over a house inland. There are some people that could use a hand up, but the vast majority like the carefree beach bum lifestyle.

What is boils down to is this, how do you help those in need while still preventing welfare fraud and gaming the system? There is a certain number of folks who CAN do for themselves but WONT as long as some one else will pay their way. The challenge is to find those in genuine need and weed out the rest.

Welfare Fraud - Federal Safety Net

    federalsafetynet.com › welfare-fraud

Improper welfare payments, including fraud, are estimated to be 10.6% of all federal ... programs with improper payments greater than $2 billion annually. .... with the U.S. Department of Justice and Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

Many of which prohibit drug and alcohol use, causing a good % to refuse help. Saw it here in our homeless population, they would not even go to the public shelter during Hurricane Irma, for that reason.

It’s secret is being 93% of one ethnicity, being 78% of one religion, and over 90% of one language. I’ll go out on a limb and say racism is very alive in Finland with what the very few minorities always being kept in check. At a population of only 19 inhabitants per sq kilometer it’s very very very easy to keep separation of “undesirables. All of the Nordic countries are this way.

    Not really.

Attempts To Get Homeless Into Shelters Fail 99 Percent Of Time, Data Show

    https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2016/08/29/homeless-shelter-failure/

Of 4,084 contacts with the homeless between July 12 and Aug. 8, just 22 agreed to go into a shelter. It amounted to a success rate of less than 1 percent, Mascali said.

How much of a homeless population do you have in a country that borders on the artic circle? 5000 homeless is an entirely different problem than 5 million

Most homeless people have substance abuse issues. That is a simple fact.

That's nice, who pays for it? Taxpayers? I assume that's it, which is fine after all we're talking about America citizens but first deport all of the illegal freeloaders.

I'll bet illegal aliens cannot get those free taxpayer funded homes. It sounds like they still have to pay rent. I wonder what happens if the ungrateful types simply trash the place, and make life hell for their neighbors. Will they still get to live there?

There are a lot of social welfare programs we cannot do in the US, because we have aprox 20-30 million illegal alien, non US citizen's, and millions more children born to those illegals

They did that several years ago in Salt Lake City. It was a model program, but lately not so good, since state Republicans pulled the plug on the funding.

Put them in jail. Jail is shelter. We'd gladly pay taxes for jail.

Sadly in America, helping people in need only entices and promotes laziness!

It's the bad parent syndrome. They think they are doing their best by coddling their children but all they end up with are aholes as teenagers.

BTW, Among a half dozen other things, I have a sink drain that needs work now.
