John Boehner: ‘There Is No Republican Party. There’s a Trump Party.’ https://www.thedailybeast.com/john-...epublican-party-theres-a-trump-party?ref=wrap I have no doubt the original Orange Man will be savaged by the minions, accused of being part of the establishment rejected by Drumpf voters. In other words, everyone is the enemy now. "Old school Repubs, the media, international allies, the Repub AG, Dems, Flake, corporate leaders, McCain, former presidents, Corker, Don isn't particular. If you have had something critical to say about Don you are wearing a bulls eye. He's a bottomless pit of anger and vitriol. He has lived his life with this thought in mind.
Finally starting to understand Trump in not a republican? You must have been taking a nap with some republicans.
He's a narcissist. Everything he does is to benefit him. Currently that means making his crazy base happy. THEY are Republicans...far right Republicans...so effectively is Trump as long as the love affair with his base continues
You got that right! If you threaten the cushy country club, country club members, whatever their political stripe, are going to fight you tooth and nail.
There is no Republican Party left...at least not as we knew it. It's a right wing cult of personality now
So far Republican lawmakers have been acting like sheep, and certain far right Republicans in the House are acting more like Trump cronies than responsible lawmakers and responsible for oversight of the executive branch. Their idea of oversight is to find out the evidence against Trump in the on-going Russian investigation. That may change today. Trump is imposing steep tariffs on steel and aluminum from three of America's biggest trading partners — Canada, Mexico and the European Union. The trade penalties, 25% on imported steel and 10% on imported aluminum, take effect at midnight, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross told reporters Thursday. Mexico, the EU and Canada immediately announced plans to retaliate with their own tariffs against American products, according CNN Money. Republicans on Capitol Hill were fuming. The move Thursday came after Republicans had tried to convince the administration for months to target China with tariffs rather than US trading partners, and it could trigger Republicans on Capitol Hill to consider taking action against their own President on trade. "I disagree with this decision," House Speaker Paul Ryan, a Wisconsin Republican who had quietly tried to convince Trump to hold back on the action, said in a statement. "There are better ways to help American workers and consumers. I intend to keep working with the president on those better options." The Speaker is always the kiss-ass, even when the President shoves a finger up his ass. Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) blasted Trump, calling the tariffs “an abuse of authority intended only for national security purposes." House Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady said the tariffs "are hitting the wrong target. When it comes to unfairly traded steel and aluminum, Mexico, Canada, and Europe are not the problem—China is. This action puts American workers and families at risk, whose jobs depend on fairly traded products from these important trading partners. And it hurts our efforts to create good-paying US jobs by selling more 'Made in America' products to customers in these countries," the Texas Republican's statement said. What will the sheep do, meaning Trump's base? What will they say when they lose their manufacturing and mining jobs due to higher prices and less demand? What will they say when consumer prices skyrocket because of the tariffs? Nothing, and they will continue to love their underdog. After all, everyone, now his own party, is picking on him and he didn't do anything wrong, just some silly, old tariffs.
No Republican Party, Trump Party? What a joke. Trump has been fighting many in the Republican Party that doesn't agree with him. Flake wants to run against him, McCain gave the fake dossier to the FBI. He has fought with every leader in the Republican Party to get his policies through. Wow, he is angry. Wonder why that is? Sure can't be because the Left has been trying to impeach him even before he took office and hasn't let up an ounce sense. If you had something critical to say about him? When has the Left said one good thing about him? Gave him one bit of credit for anything he has done?
Boehner ran on being a fiscal conservative, but he was just a rubber stamp man for Obama's unbridled spending, so I don't see why he's angry with Trump. Didn't that idiot retire?
Trump is very worried over the steel industry. We can not afford to lose that like so many other industries we have lost. We can not be a super power without a steel industry, especially with the conflicts we have with China and Russia. The only thing that saved us in WWII was our industry. In another war, trying to get steel across an ocean in case of war would be next to impossible. Not crazy about him enacting tariffs, but he must have felt he couldn't get enough out of our friendly trading powers.
Well, since the Democrats have lost control of the Presidency, Congress, the majority of governor mansions, and the majority of state houses, I'd say there is no Democratic party left. he he he he he
Most of all, Monica Lewinsky's ex boyfriends wife who made it easy for democrats to pull the lever for Trump. Landslide wins are great aren't they.
John Boehner tried for years to get the Republican Party to act responsibly and failed. He finally accepted the fact that the right wing extremist Tea Party had taken over. Boehner would cut a rational compromise deal with Obama, one like the budget compromise that the Tea Party originally favored, only to have the same group of radicals shut it down. The speakers usual control mechanism is to assign chairmanships to deserving Congressmen. Tea Party extremists couldn't care less about running the party or the government, they wanted to destroy it. Boehner finally gave up and resigned rather than continuing to fight the rabble; the rabble won, the once rational GOP is no more. It is now the Party of Trump with no oversight role whatsoever. Trump legislators, supporters, and some posters here, have decided the American government is corrupt, corruptible, non-representative, and a failure. Therefore, it must be destroyed. Non of these players have considered for a moment what harvest this anarchistic behavior will sow. That these radicals consider themselves "conservatives" is an affront to the memories of Goldwater, Reagan, Ford and even Nixon. When one seeks destruction of a government without thought to replacement, they are anarchists. At Washington parties both Republican and Democratic legislators decry Trump's policies, behavior, and lack of discipline and direction. Still, none of them step forward and make public their opposition of Trump for the good of the republic. They are terrified that to do so might get them "primaried" in upcoming elections. In short, they would sell their souls for what has become their useless, even traitors office. Their failure to step up and be counted as the responsible third branch of government has allowed evil to triumph. Those who seek to rationalize indefensible acts and behaviors are complicit in the downfall of decency and of America itself. Our founding fathers never contemplated such a development.
