Poor kids have the worst of it. They're the most likely to have a family member with covid, too.

Tell me how you would teach American history online. Show us you should be taken seriously.

Those for whom I voted did not win. America did not win with those who were elected.

And I'm sure we can depend on you to "inform" us of what those feelings are......

Very simple, you go back to the classroom and teach it there, because distance learning is crap.

    Problem solved.

    You're welcome.

I see that you agree that distance learning is a disaster, and it's having a serious impact on the well-being of your students, and you need to get back in the classroom ASAP.

    So we agree on that.

Now go and explain it to the teachers unions.

Where did you ever get the idea that I hate K-12 education?

My whole point is that the teachers need to get back to traditional K-12 education in the classrooms, because it's very important, and distance learning isn't getting the very important job of K-12 education done.

Now go and explain it to the teachers unions.

Most successful presidential candidates since 1980 presented themselves as fighting for lower- and middle-income whites. Trump did nothing new.

Those elected have real world results in our political system. Basically you are proudly proclaiming that you accomplished nothing of value.

IOW, you have no idea how to teach a course online. You just wanted to talk trash against teachers.

I have an idea for you--get healthcare workers to start talking about everyone using effective PPE. Be constructive.

Trump made it the centerpiece of his campaign. He lied because he knew GOP Senators and Representatives aren't about to do a damn thing for Joe and Jane American. They passed legislation giving 85% of the tax cut to people making $400,000 a year when Trump was still promising even in 2017 not to cut taxes for rich people. Then the Republicans tried to gut Obamacare by ending protection against higher rates for preexisting conditions.

Loud meaningless virtue signalling will not restore the Freedoms and Liberty of our American Constitutional Liberal Democracy. We have to engage, we have to take risks and we have to get folks elected. Once elected if they do not serve us, they need to be replaced.

Standing about proclaiming "I am pure, because I accomplished nothing!" will not restore your rights, nor those of your fellow citizens.

Take a Risk, electorially engage with the assumption that you ARE the majority and you WILL prevail. But, you have to support candidates that at least have a shot of winning election in order to get anything done.

How much data showing students having class from home is garbage will it take for you to see that they need to be back in school?

The data is overwhelmingly one sided in favor of kids needing to be in school and yet here you are......

To which the reply is: So what? Your post is mostly just an anti-GOP rant, which may make you feel better but isn't persuasive. And as I pointed out before, anyone's tax cut would go mostly yo high earners because that's where the taxes are.

As someone who taught high school students and adults for three decades, and teachers how to use computers in instruction, I think I'm far more aware than most about the need to get back to in-person instruction.
    As I said...

If I was still negotiating collective agreements for teachers' unions, I would advocate we tell the employer the sum total of mitigation measures (distancing, masks, vaccines...) must be at all times within CDC guidelines. We would tell the employer we will under no circumstances be complicit in telling the community schools are safe if they aren't. Teachers would be instructed to immediately shut down classrooms falling short of standards.

Teachers in city districts like Chicago and Los Angeles have a special problem of their students living in multigenerational households and higher transmission rates in their communities. Teachers are not going to willingly participate in killing their students' grandparents.

IOW, you aren't going to address what I wrote. Trump is a fraud who didn't represent the needs of the lower- and middle-income people he purported to care about.
You couldn't resist moving on to attacking me instead of discussing what I wrote.
Hogswallop. All Republicans had to do was leave the top rate where it was and the tax cut could have been six times higher for people making less than $400,000.

Trump is no friend of Joe and Jane American.

    Exactly.

They're more likely to be working jobs that are considered necessary, can't be worked remotely, and in conditions where employers have no commitment to safe working conditions.

Dude - do you really think teachers don't want to get back to in-person education??

I really don't know where you get your ideas.

The problem today is that schools are not safe environments for teachers, for students, for staff. And, that makes them unsafe for communities as well.

The problem comes when people want to open schools without following guidelines for safety

THEN, folks like YOU dump on teachers because they lobby for an environment that is safER for students, teachers, staff and the community.

You can't do that without hating education. If you liked education you just wouldnt look at the problem the way you do.

Unlike the teachers, the healthcare workers are busy seeing to the health and wellbeing of children.

Maybe the teachers should spend their time squawking about masks like a bunch of Facebook Karens. It's not like they're doing anything besides Zoom call teaching a few hours a day, and enjoying their stay-at-home semi-vacations.

You're so darn proud of yourself that it hurts.

But, your comparison is absolute and total tripe.

Look. I get it. You hate education. Just leave it at that.

You're wasting your time attacking Trump to me; I voted against him twice and I think he was a poor President. His campaign, however was not notably different from other recent successful candidates.
You'll have to explain how leaving the top rate higher would make anyone else's rate lower. Especially since the bottom 50% are already essentially at zero.
