And again, in New York City, many children are killed in Ghettos, Gangs get drunk, drugged and shoot other rival Gang members, many people / children, are killed. These killings are in small minority Ghettos, over crowded conditions, poverty, low wages, illegal drugs, less education, high unemployment etc..... Yet lets punish all America for the sins of a few.
Despite Congress refusing to fund the CDC doing gun studies, the agency basically diverted funds to do so anyway. Since diverting funds from diseases can cost lives, anyone at the CDC who participated in such diversion of funds and research time should be prosecuted for conspiracy to commit manslaughter and reckless endangerment - plus theft of public funds.
it is intellectually lazy and morally defective to think regulating and sanctioning the law abiding public will change the behavior of criminals,it is unfortunate that so much emotional and political energy is wasted on gun control rhetoric and delusions rather than addressing real problems and solutions
Does that mean that children, on average, are more likely to live in homes where handguns are kept? No. Handgun penetration is not the same thing as the handgun ownership rate.
So why are criminals in other countries much more likely to obey gun laws? What are they doing right?
No, it means theres more guns overall, and less accidental deaths. In fact, accidental firearm fatalities are at an all time low of 0.2 per 100k. Walking on the sidewalk is twice as dangerous.
Hhhhmmmmm source http://www.gunfacts.info/wp-content...-Firearm-Deaths-and-Handgun-Availability1.png. A known pro gun site that has a reputation for "massaging" facts And there is something blatantly wrong with this data - there were 39000 CHILD deaths in 1993???
Does your risk of dying accidentally go up if you own 100 guns instead of 10 guns? I don't think so. The important thing is that you don't own any guns at all and your stats don't tell us if that demographic has increased or decreased. Is walking on a sidewalk more dangerous per minute than one minute of using your gun? I don't think so.
Lawrd. It is not a "known pro-gun site". It takes statistics and charts from places like the CDC, FBI and other official sources and produces charts. Go have a look and come back with any argument you'd like. It's not a "news" site, it's based on facts and data. The source of this particular chart is listed on the graph, in the bottom left. No....you need to look at the left side to see the per 100k Good grief.
Owning a gun doesn't make the risk go up at all. Being irresponsible does though. The only exception would be a defective firearm, which I've never heard of happening in over 20 years. Walking on the sidewalk results in twice as many deaths as accidental gun shots. I'm guessing most accidental gun shots don't happen when you're intentionally popping rounds off inside the house.
If people spent as much time shooting guns as walking on sidewalks then you might have a point. I doubt that walking on sidewalks is more dangerous per unit of time. By your logic, it would be better to let your children play with loaded guns than let them walk on the sidewalk.
It is definitely a biased pro-gun site. They present cherry picked information from their sources in a very misleading way.
Open invitation to either of you to pick an item from the Gun Facts website of your choosing, and debate it with me. Take your time and find a good one for me, I wouldn't want it to be too easy.
Play with them? No. Firearms are not toys. My 10 year old daughter strips and cleans an AR-15 and a 10/22 all the time though. She can easily load the 10/22 mags but has to use a loader for the 30 round 223 mags. Pretty good shot too. As soon as her hands are bigger she'll be working on her holster skills. I'm thinking when she's 12 or so.

The site is ridiculous. "Fact: The rate of defensive gun use (DGU) is six times that of criminal gun use.... The citation: "Crime statistics: Bureau of Justice Statistics – National Crime Victimization Survey (2005). DGU statistics: Targeting Guns, Kleck (average of 15 major surveys where DGUs were reported)" http://www.gunfacts.info/gun-control-myths/guns-and-crime-prevention/#note-97-5 Interesting how the author accepts the NCVS as a valid source for information about criminal gun use but not about defensive gun use. According to the NCVS, criminal gun use is more common that defensive gun use. But the author doesn't like that narrative. So he goes to another source where he knows he can find the higher number for defensive gun use that he wants.
http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/133/2/219.short Who is paying for these preventable injuries?
If you are trying to argue that gunfacts.info isn't a pro gun website that diminishes your own credibility. Or you honestly believe that, then you are just an idiot. Which one is it?
