Part one: How many times have we heard energy independence? Seems to me Natural Gas can get us there fast if we had the political will.

Part two: How many times have we heard about a "level playing field on which we can compete and win". Takes me back to the Bush, Clinton, Perot debate where Ross Perot was telling the other two candidates "NAFTA will create a huge suction for jobs leaving America". Again, there has never been any political will to "level the playing field."

Part three: Sounds good, heard it many times before

Part four: And again, listening to this sh*t gets old. Adding two trillion to defense makes no sense to me....

Part five: And finally part five of this lengthy and detailed plan is full of nothing but buzz words.

No one can disagree with this five point plan, especially when it contains no details. Can Romney do what only has been done twice, create 12 million jobs? Even if he has the best intentions I highly doubt the dems will let it happen. Buckle up because it looks like we are all going to find out.

No, he cannot. As couldn't the Conservatives in Spain(PP), they promised 3 million jobs, the unemployment has been increased :)

It was 4 years ago, but didn't Obama promise to create 10 million jobs in the first 2 years... if so, we are still waiting. Do I think Romney can pull off 12 million? No.

Sure he can! Romney's probably already got 12 million jobs outsourced to India by now! He's good at that kind of stuff.

There are a few things to note about the Romney jobs plan.

The first, and in my eyes most immediately relevant, is that it's not so much an outline of proposed policy as an outline of proposed end results; he says "We should strive for energy independence", sure, but fails to provide any policy that would succeed in doing that. He says "We should improve our schools", but fails to provide any policy that would succeed in doing that. He says "we will cut the deficit", but his plan does nothing of the sort. It's not an outline of planned policy; it's an outline of "results we want", and it should be taken as such.

Secondly, the claims that the Romney plan will create 12,000,000 jobs is... not true. He cites a handful of studies, but leaves out important details, like that most of the improvement is predicted to happen regardless of who the president is, or that the 2 million jobs estimated to come from toughening up on China would happen if China stopped infringing on US patents, something which is liable to happen approximately... never. In fact, the 12 Million is on the conservative side, according to the recent forecast by the federal reserve; we've worked our way through most of the private sector debt overhang, so pretty much regardless of policy, some sort of recovery is bound to happen. It's sort of like if he said "Thanks to my policies, national debt will go up!" - no, it would do that anyways, unless your policies were absolutely ridiculous in one way or another. Of course, this would be the tragedy if Mitt wins this election: all of a sudden, we have a recovery which was slated to happen whether or not he wins, and his policies (which have failed miserably in Europe, by the way) get credit, despite having little to do with it. Rather sad.
