Christian Crusaders built a time machine, but set the wrong coordinates, accidentally slaughtered a bunch of Christians (whoopsies!).
...said the man who clearly has no knowledge of Sri Lanka, and no knowledge of the actual history of Buddhism. EDIT: I'm assuming you're a man. Oops if I'm wrong.
Modern Buddhism isn't that peaceful anymore. But taking some Buddhists violent acts as evidence that Buddhism is a bad religion, is the same fallacy that some commit regarding Islam.
Yes, I know, and I suspected it from the beginning. But I wouldn't have been shocked if it was a Buddhist attack, because I know the actual history and politics of Sri Lanka, at least on some level. I'm not trying to prove that Buddhism "is a bad religion," I have a tendency to downplay the importance of religious doctrine in political violence.
Like Barry they will bow down plead for forgiveness feel a sharp pain and realize just before they black out, their head is no longer connected to their body.
Sources. Classic daily mail. Anyway, the article also says buddhist monks have attacked and shut down Muslim services. Really way to early to speculate on who is responsible.
Bomber came up to the top of the queue and set off the blast’ The suicide bomber waited patiently in a queue for the Easter Sunday breakfast buffet at Sri Lanka's Cinnamon Grand hotel before setting off explosives strapped to his back. Carrying a plate, the man, who had registered at the hotel the night before as Mohamed Azzam Mohamed, was just about to be served when he set off his devastating strike in the packed restaurant, a manager at the Sri Lankan hotel said. “There was utter chaos,” said the manager, who spoke to AFP on condition of anonymity as he is not allowed to speak for the company. The Taprobane restaurant at the hotel was having one of its busiest days of the year for the Easter holiday weekend. “It was 8:30 am and it was busy. It was families,” the manager told AFP. “He came up to the top of the queue and set off the blast,” he added. https://www.thehindu.com/news/inter...ter_impression=true&__twitter_impression=true
I don't think its too early to speculate. One attackers name was Mohamed Azzam Mohamed. Hmmm...who could it be?
Your use of the word "Islamists" seems strange in this context. Is religious doctrine different for Islamists and Muslims, or do you not recognize a distinction?
Oh my Time for more "thoughts and prayers" from Pence and all the other right-wing jesus freaks, eh Why doesn't your jesus/god get down here and kick some ass, Mike? Put an end to the MADNESS...
Tamils, you know the ones that fought and lost a civil war just a few years ago are made up of muslims, Christians and Hindus. Also, to my knowledge the names of the suspects have not been released. What better way to foment mistrust than to start a rumour?
...ok. You must be practicing some Olympic levels of equivocation to be this confused. It's alright, we'll work this out together. In most people's usage of the term "Islamist" refers to a Muslim who believes that Islam should be at the center of public and political life, and wants to see that Islamic strictures are enforced through the secular law system (or rather, that there be no distinction between secular and religious law.) So it's strange that, in starting a discussion about religious doctrine, your start the analysis with a subset of the Muslim community, who presumably have the same doctrine to pull from as other Muslims. Now, in reality, what texts count as "doctrine" differ from Muslim to Muslim, but we'll leave the more complicated matters aside for now.
Are you suggesting that Tamils might be behind this attack? Why would they do that? Have they ever purposefully attacked Christians specifically?
This appears to be targeted specifically at Christians, both in churches (ongoing problem there), and in celebrations at hotels on Easter Sunday. At least one attacker was identified as a Mohammed, and he blew himself up. Im leaning towards muslim.
I think that StillBlue's implication is that there are some Muslims among the Tamils, and thus Muslim names could still point to Tamil attackers. That's true, but very unlikely, and in my opinion just a random connecting of the fact that this happened in Sri Lanka, and when people think of Sri Lanka they usually think of the Tamil Tigers. Blowing up Christian churches isn't exactly a staple of Tamil resistance.
You are either very uninformed or flat out lying, the names have been released a few of which I already posted.
As a person who blames what you already have don't preach to me about what you either ignore and are too uninformed to understand.
