Hey Ruskie, you are making no sense.

No I am not an immigrant, I know the forum Ruskies always have trouble staying on topic and want to insult others instead, but I thank god every day I am not from that area of the world. Most my friends who have immigrated from there tell me how much better it is in America.

You know, that evil place where gays can marry

You cannot possibly be serious as far as your comments about the U.S. Military?

The F-18 Superhornet will remain and Robotic Self Autonomous Fighter/Attack Drones will slowly replace it.

The Minuteman III will also remain for the time being.

The issues with the Raytheon AIM-120 AMRAAM have already been resolved.

The М-4 is the most successful Urban Combat Rifle ever made.

There is a Barret Assault Rifle in consideration to replace M-16 Varients as the new Barret Rifle uses a slightly heavier round...NOT BY MUCH....than the .223 Remmington round.....5.56.

But in every battle the ability of troops equipped with M-16 Varients as they can carry more ammo than a person carrying an AK-47 and as well the M-16 Variets can fire a round at much longer distances.

Even the Russian Military KNOWS any attempt to fight a war against U.S. Military Forces would end DISASTEROUSLY for poorly equipped and poorly trained Russian Military Forces.

You call Russian nationals who post here both Ruskie & trole & then claim to have a lot of Russian friends just like Above Alpha, maybe that is now part of the formula for paid posters?

A small percentage of the current Russian Military is trained very well.

But the vast majority is not.

Russia simply does not have either the money or men willing to properly train and equip the entire Russian Military.

The Heckler & Koch G36 sounds sounds like it would be better than either the AK 47 or M4. Was also expecting to see the Uzi high up on the lists but did not make it.

The AK-47 will fire no matter if a soldier drops it in mud or water as it is a simple to use weapon.

But when Soldiers equipped with AK-47's go up against Highly Trained U.S. Military Forces using an M-16 Varient....forget it....those Soldiers using the Ak-47 are toast.

Ever sinse the war with Georgia in 2008 the Russian government has been reorganizing & modernizing the army. You are probably still thinking in the Yeltsen years.

What about the Heckler & Koch G36? It seems both the AK47 & M4 are both now dated.

They have been reorganizing and modernizing but Russia has very little in the way of any Support Capability for any deep incursion into another Nations territory.

The Russian Military primarily exists to fight against an invading army within it's own territory.

Yes there are some good weapons out there and as I said the U.S. Military is leaning toward the new Barret.

Yeah the video of the Russian invasion of Georgia didn't look like a modernized and well equipped army. There were soldiers wearing tennis shoes because they didn't have boots.

I was in the military for many years, and oddly enough have never fired an M16. I was based
at Eskan Village in '90 - '91 near Riyadh, Saudi Arabia well away from the front. We would take a bus from the housing base to the airport for our actual missions. For whatever reason we were given an M16 and ammo pouch on the 15 km journey, “just in case.” An MP had to show me how to clear it. Once at the airport, we were required to turn in the M16 and were then given .38 revolvers for the actual missions. There was a shortage of the M9 pistols at the time, so we got the Vietnam era Smith & Wesson .38s. This is the extent of my experience with the rifle. My impressions? It was much lighter than I expected.

Anyway, the Navy has plans to retire older versions of the F/A-18 and shift to a combination of Super Hornets (E/F) and carrier-based F-35s. I would agree that the A/C/D variants are in rough shape and the E is wearing out faster than anticipated. They fly (on average) 330 hours a year, the new F-35s will arrive just as many of the older F-18As are retired because of old age.

Statistically speaking, it's possible. Very unlikely and rarely intentional, but possible. I agree though, the best fighters are those that prepare for the fight so well, the other side concedes the victory.

Such missiles do have a purpose however.

Long range weapons are frequently inaccurate. Then again, what you have to ask before dismissing them is "what is the intent?"

Is it really to destroy the other side (airplane, tank, ship, etc), or to make them divert and cancel and delay their attack on you? For the long range stuff, generally it is more aimed at getting the other side to react to you, making them waste fuel and time to evade the missile while you can take the time to try and get in closer.

Many people fail to realize the actual strategy and tactics involved in such combat. AA guns have pretty much always been fairly inaccurate. But they are still used because they are cheap, easily moved, and can provide a deterrence factor.

The Uzi is not any kind of battle rifle or assault rifle (take your pick of wording you prefer).

In fact, it is not even considered to be a "Rifle" at all. It is a Submachine Gun (SMG).

A SMG is a weapon that is designed to be primarily in an automatic fire configuration (although most can also fire single shot), but uses a pistol cartridge. This gives them reduced range and penetration power.

The Uzi is a Submachine Gun. As is the Thompson, the MP40, even the automatic version of the Luger was (P08) with the addition of a removable stock and drum magazine became an SMG.

So no, none of these weapons should ever be on a list of "Best Assault Rifles", because they are not assault rifles.

Weapons like the Uzi, Mac-10, RFP-50....are basically MACHINE PISTOLS that have an accurate range of about the width OF MY FRONT YARD!! LOL!!!

They can fire a large number of rounds very quickly but are have little to ZERO USE in Battle Conditions.

The M-16 Variets such as the M4 although having a shorter rifled barrel to allow greater control of the weapon when fighting in CLOSE URBAN COMBAT....as having a long rifled barrel is NOT conductive to being able to duck and take cover behind building structures and fire the weapon.

The major benefit from the variety of M-16 Varients out there compared to weapons like the AK-47 or even to an extent the AK-74 is the ability for U.S. Forces to carry a great deal more ammunition in comparison to an AK-47 as well as the addition of High Tech. Scopes with Lasers and even some with IR-Light Detection....allows U.S. Forces TO ACHIEVE THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF HEAD SHOT KILLS EVER REGISTERED IN COMBAT BY ANY MILITARY FORCE!!

When our guy's took Fallujah....they achieved so many HEAD KILL SHOTS....that it prompted some U.N. Observers to think these were EXECUTION STYLE KILLINGS.

    They were not.

When an Iraqi or anyone equipped and firing an AK-47...the combination of their POOR TRAINING...as well the FACT on Automatic the AK-47 KICKS LIKE A MULE....as you might be able to achieve an accurate shot on the first shot but after that the heaver AK-47 Round thus more powder causes the AK-47 to buck up and it is VERY DIFFICULT TO BRING BACK DOWN TO TARGET!!!

An M4 or any M-16 Varient has very little recoil and settles right back to target easily.

As well SELECTOR SWITCHES that allow an M-16 Varient to fire just a few rounds in groups....rather than attempting to judge short bursts by ones self....makes a BIG DIFFERENCE!!

U.S. Army Platoons usually always give at least one Soldier an M-14 and perhaps an M-16 with an over under Grenade Launcher.

I fired "rifle expert" on the 500 yard KD range with the M-14, twice. I fired expert with the M-16 A1 shooting Charley.

Going on now for almost fifty years now, Marines are still (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)ing about the M-16. It's not so much the rifle today but the cartridge that it's chambered for, the 5.56. (Remington .223)
It's a varmint round that is based upon the Remington .222. Great rifle cartridge for shooting ground hogs and jack rabbits.

"Remington" - an excellent rifle. But I prefer to hunt German "Sauer 202". However, it is a matter of habit. But "Remington" is very good.

Uzi is one of the worst submashine guns. Ever. Or, at least, a lot of people tend to think like that.

Firing 9×19mm Parabellum and having a weight of 3,5 kg. Pretty dissapointing. You can have a full-sized assault rifle in the same weight.

It was a transitional weapon. The Israeli needed a weapon for use in urban setting and for it's armored crew and commandoes, the Uzi fitted that role at the time. The canadian army used smg also for it's tank crews up until the 80's when they went with the Colt Commando.

I understand this. Nevertheless, this SMG is decent only by WW2 standarts, but when you compare it to it's contemporaries it doesn't look that impressive.

Uzi is being manufactured since 1950-th. The same time FN FAL and AKM entered production, with first one chambered 7,62×51 and 1 kg heavier, the second one chambered 7,62×39 and 200 grams lighter.

Overall, unimpressive gun, useful only due to small size and mostly being known with it's movie roles, rather than performance.
If I had to pick one post WW2 SMG, that would be MP 5.

I would not say that. For use in house clearing for example they are very good weapons. In any situation where your enemy is up close a SMG can do a lot of damage very quickly. And because the round is less powerful it reduces the chances of friendly casualties from overshoots.

The US actually fielded the Thompson up until the end of the Vietnam War. And our own military and great many others use the Heckler & Koch MP5 (SEAL teams, FAST Company, and other units love the MP5).
