I have been wondering what people are doing about food as this coronavirus causes mass quarantines. Now I know. They are fighting over spoiled food. I guess everybody is doing nothing about it. :(

You go on a cruise - you take the risks. Especially these days.

There's seems something utterly vacuous about people sitting on a cruise ship.

I never took a vacation on one, even though my wife tried to drag me there many times.
I find them disgusting - there is no real running water, you are in enclosed space with thousands of other people. My bigger concern is gastric issues, as I hate having an upset stomach, with if you can easily get food borne illnesses there, it must be even easier to catch airborne ones. At least at a resort I can get away from others and my air is really coming from the outside.

A cruise certainly isn't on my bucket list. It just doesn't appeal to me. The only way to get away from hoardes of people is by closing yourself in a stuffy cabin and that is less than appealing.

I might consider a cruise around Alaska but other than that ... no thanks.

And another thing - the tourist traps.
In Australia many want to go to Bali in Indonesia. Lots of Australians
die there due to alcohol, drugs, accidents etc.. Why go there??????
There's tens of thousands of islands in Indonesia, plus the Philippines,
Malaysia etc And wonderful culture, interesting food, pristine landscapes.

I would have thought it was irrelevant what you think of cruises. If people were fighting over 'rotten food' they must have been starving but I guess people's superiority to those who would choose a cruise just shows you that those who are so low they would choose such a holiday deserve to be starved.

People are fighting over food and toilet paper world wide. Nobody has said that people on cruise ships deserve to starve. Geez! RMY SMH

They can't like, send smaller boats out with food they could lift off?

I've often thought that if I win the Lotto I'd just go out on them one after the other and never go home, but **** it, I'll just buy the whorehouse in Nevada and do employment interviews forever.

Fighting over rotten food is only a month or 2 away from the USA.

China and the rest of the first world work to try to provide food and medicine everyone in their countries.

"Darwin wins" truely shows that the USA is NOT a Christian country.

No you didn't say it, just ignored it as an irrelevance. That speaks for itself. Now you justify ignoring it as your government would seem to have done due to people starving in other parts of the world. If they are starving in other parts of the world what the heck does it matter if they are starving in American waters.

So you attack me for something I never even said? I see how you roll. Say hello to ignore!

People are not starving on American waters or any other waters! Wake up!

I pointed out that people starving was not of importance to people who did not comment on it and that you further appeared to give as a reason for not commenting on it that people were starving all over the world implying to you people starving was no big deal.

    and me you.

    Thank you.
Oh so I got it wrong. The boat that the people were fighting for rotten food on was not in American waters?

While I have no issue with you not wanting to cruise, this is not a valid reason, as it's not at all accurate.

I am agoraphobic, I am most uncomfortable in large crowds.

I am also agoraphobic and find cruising the best way to escape crowds and relax on vacation. I can escape crowds by camping, but there's a lot of work involved. For me, there is nothing better than spending a day on my balcony, watching the sea go by/reading a book/listening to music, while having meals delivered right to my cabin. Oh, and the daily nap. :)

I prefer walking on the beach away from the crowds. Communing with nature, if you will.

Also avoiding the crowds of malls, concerts and sporting events. I did all that while young, but in old age it has become unpleasant.

I know it's a couple of days late but it's worth noting that I don't think that's what she said. The actual quote on the BBC source was "The food is rotten and terrible and we have to fight for it. It is not good enough."

I don’t think that necessarily means the food was literally spoiled but a more general casual slang for it not being very palatable. It’d suggest that if they’d been offered food that was literally rotting, she (and the media) would have made a much bigger case out of it (and rightly so). She also never suggested passengers were fighting each other for food (after all, they’re all confined to their own cabins). Again, I suspect it was a more casual reference to having to push to get meals delivered to them (or maybe just “fighting” the staff to get food she would prefer to eat).

It isn’t mead especially clear either way, I suspect deliberately to try to trigger exactly the kind of knee-jerk reaction you rewarded them with. They wouldn’t have got anything like as many valuable clicks with a more neutral and honest headline.

Can’t have it both ways. Pick one and deal with it.
