I thought you said her husband died of alcoholism. But that doesn’t matter. Sex is sex and men have enjoyed in non-committed relationships for centuries. Now women are doing the same thing. As you said sex is enjoyable.

During the fight for SSM I never saw one advocacy group seriously lobbying to remove the automatic rights assigned to heterosexual couples upon marriage as a way of equalizing the playing field.

I might have supported that beyond the fact it seems silly to create a whole swathe of new laws to replace something that can be accomplished with a simple marriage license (and especially since it's largely based in spite).

Moot really since it's all over now.

Agreed. Hence, both a high level of hypocrisy and the SCOTUS problem with the 14th Amendment issue.

The argument is not "new laws", but all the problems can be handled through powers of attorney, legal agreements, etc. Obviously most of these people never had to deal with a ****ing lawyer. A standard will costs $400+. Covering medical POAs, children, what to do if a person is temporarily incapacitated or permanently incapacitated, etc will take thousands of dollars. Mention that to all the straight married couples in America and they'd never let it happen. Of course those who are against SSM do not see this because, IMHO, they don't want to see it.

    Of course they don't.

Although it might be a valid policy from a libertarian perspective, I don't remember anybody trying to get government out of the marriage business until gays made it their business to get into it!

It's kind of a riff on the kid smashing up his own toys so the other kids don't get to play with them.

Even when the anti-SSM folks mentioned eliminating the laws, they never pushed for it. It was just BS.

Actually it is very much in the public interest to encourage the establishment of stable households. Establishing a set of defined abilities as a single legal action goes far in establishing those stable households. Leaving them as a series of individually contracts would be a waste of both money and time. Now government should not be saying who cannot enter into such a legal agreement, short of the ability to give consent. That is the principle of equal application of the law. And indeed there are many other benefits we could establish or remove, but the basics Max listed are good to go.

Because governments made up of people are necessary to create stable environments for people because people are incapable of knowing the importance of, or having the ability to create their own stable environments. Thank heaven for these wonderful bureaucratic people, so full of knowledge and care for other people, so willing to implement their wonderful people ideas upon other people. Why what would the people do without them?

Who said I didn't want people posting to my comments? Or is this another attempt of yours to try assign my thoughts? You are not very good at it.

You threw a fit because I responded to you. You're quite a confrontational person. And you're always playing the Martyr.

I'd say you need to change that if you ever don't want to be single

How many times do people have sex and not reproduce I bet the number is astronomically higher then how many times they have sex and do reproduce so sex seldom reproduces
