    Dear Chris,

although I haven't much interacted with your father, I still want to get in line here and offer you my condolences. I know that Flounder enjoyed a great deal of respect in this forum, and it's good to know that he also had a loving family in real life who will miss him dearly.
I wish you and all of your family all the strength you will need.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Flounder. He was truly a positive influence on PF. What few interactions I had with him I could tell he was a fair minded person. He will be missed.

I just noticed this OP.I generally only follow certain threads.
I am sorry to hear.He was gentlemanly and fair. How old was he.?
I was thinking he was also Italian.Like maybe the traditional Italian
    New Yorker.Like Martin Scorsese's parents.

I just came across this thread today about George who I have known for 9+ yrs as "Flounda," the loving butt of many fish jokes.

When Flounda was made a Mod yrs ago I thought it was a mistake---not because of his renown fairness, but that He was just too nice of a guy! Having been a Mod on another forum, I was resolved that "Mod-ship" generally drew those ppl who wanted a position of power over others. Flounda was not such as being fair and not imposing or unduly authoritative in dealing with ppl.

I credit him with helping to 'clean up' the Religion Forum over the yrs as it had turned into a 'bash fest.' Even tho I, being part Italian and raised Roman Catholic (and even lived on Long island as a kid), would often be critical of that religion in posting with him, he never took my posts personally or held them against me.

Not much more can be said about George besides fair, personable, good sense of humor, etc. that has all been said in previous posts.

But from a Christian standpoint, he has moved on to a better place where there is no more suffering or tears (other than from those he left behind) per the scriptures, of a Godly loving man that he was most certainly in 'this' life and by the praise of the friends & family he left behind.......

What a great view... (thanks for finding and sharing Falena)

This is definitely Flounder as I remember him. I literally cannot recall a single negative post from the man. I enjoyed working with him briefly as staff, and certainly enjoyed reading his posts and chatting with him in the forums. I wish him the best for eternity, and hope that his friends and family are able to find peace.

Flounder Jr., I don't know if you share pop's interest in politics, but whether you do or don't, you're certainly welcome here!

My memory isn't what it once was,if memory serves. But wasn't Flounder into guitars.
I seem to recall posting about guitars with him.I have a few guitars.
I took piano lessons for 5 years in grade school then in 8th grade had a
paper route and used the money to buy a folk guitar and take lessons.
I eventually bought a Sears Silvertone 4 pickup electric.
If Flounder was a guitar guy then what is to become of his guitars.

    "Flounder" and I PM'ed occasionally.

Usually over my feelings of innocence having just received some demerits for intolerance to the less smart.

He seemed like a good man.

He certainly was a guitar guy, taught me when I was about 10. His guitars will be safe with me, I actually had one on display next to his casket at his wake. Beautiful ceremony.

So happy to learn that your Dad's ceremony was a good one. Having the guitar there was perfect. I'm still finding it difficult to accept your Dad has moved on.

May his soul rest in peace. May whatever god he believe in look after his soul. He was a good man. I respected him a lot and I will miss him. He was one of my first friends here and it's probably because of him I stayed for so long. If there is ever a time I get to see him in heaven or whatever is afterwards, I would like to have a drink with him and tell him of all the wonderful people here on PF that I inspired . At least then I can feel like what I paid back a little bit of what I owed him.

Frankly I don't understand any of it. I live by simple rules.
Do not tempt fate.Flounder seemed to be rather fine.Maybe he was
one who didn't complain and things { health issues } seemed to pop-up
almost overnight. The Important thing is that he was Good person,by my estimation.
A true mensch { a person of integrity and honor }.Can't really surpass that.
Unless a person who dedicates their life like a Nun or a Monk or even
    Priests,Rabbi's.That is a Higher calling.

I haven't posted here in a very long time, but I logged on to see this thread and it brought me back to posting. I just want to say that your father was a very good man. We were political opposites and yet even when we disagreed vehemently, he carried himself with dignity and respect. That is a rare quality at this forum. It is a great loss to everyone who knew him, even those of us who only knew him through the words he posted here.

I feel(and am) so very late to this sad and unfortunate occasion. I hadn't had too many opportunities to be touched by Flounder(George)'s great spirit and his good grace in a conversation. This is probably owed to the fact that I was politically active in certain topics, rather than others. But nevertheless, I did view many a great forums in which he did post and where he posted I saw a man of wonderful charisma, a man with a sense of humor and dignity about him. A man who was as kind to strangers, as he was to his own family.

And I have to say that I admire him now as much as I did in what little we interacted, because he embodies what every male essentially wishes to strive for: Kind, strong, dignified and noble. If I were to raise a son, I would love for it to be just like a FlounderJr. And if I were to be even half the father George was, I would have considered my life a great success.

As his undoubtedly was and is, an inspiration to all of us. Thank you George, for giving us the good grace of your time and presence. Thank you, for sharing your wisdom and intellect. Thank you for moderating fairly and compassionately. Thank you for all you've done, and all you will surely continue to do in your journey.

Rest in Peace, for no one deserves it as much as you do pal.

Im sorry to hear that flounder passed away.

I didn't know him too well but I did know that he was genuinely a tolerant person. He tolerated me even though he didn't agree with my beliefs. I respect that. He was a great moderator and I am sure he was as good of a person in real life.

    RIP. :salute:

Btw sorry about this late post but I was absent from the forum for months.

Very sorry , and saddened to hear about this.

Flounder was one of the best, level headed guys to talk to around here, and definitely one of my personal favorites. We had a few private conversations about cars, and other things over the years. I love Corvettes, and he told me he used to have one that he loved, and we shared some stories about them.

He always came off as a good family man, and the bits you have decided to share have shown that to be true.

Thank you again for sharing this news with us, and so sorry for your loss.

The internet can be a vague place where "friends" aren't really "friends"...but every once in a while you meet someone online, who truly does seem to be someone you could call a friend, and their loss leaves you saddened.

Flounder was one of those guys.

    RIP Flounder,

    Rich

Floundog became my bud when I first showed up here. We had a lot of fun smashing drones. I knew somethin was up when he was gone for a while. I just want to pay my respects to a hella cool dude and a friend of mine. I'm sure wherever he is, taxes are low, labor participation is high, the military is strong, and energy is cheap. Gunna miss him a lot. Floundog was an awesome dude who touch many lives for the better across this planet. including mine.

I just saw this, too. I'm terribly saddened by this news. Flounder befriended me when I first came aboard, and I know he loved this place and almost everyone here. Rest in peace, my friend.

And, Chris, that is a wonderful tribute to your father.

Flounder and I did not have a good history as he gave me more warnings and threats of getting banned than anyone else, despite my very clear refutations of all his accusations.

Still, I would not have wished anything bad upon him. My condolences to his family.
