Other forces are always in play. That's kind of the point, you know. And we aren't even sure what those other forces are and how a lot of them play together.

The point sir would be that you can make a graph say any damn thing you want if you can find the increments you want. And one of my favorite statements ever is that correlation does not imply causation I can find any number of things that correlate to our very slight increase in temperature, over the last hundred years, the height of women's hemlines being one of them.

You can't be serious. What one's do you think are no longer in play?

So you are saying that 20 year increments are too small? Make it 40. It will show the same thing.

Where it WON'T show is in really short cherry picked increments

By the way for what it's worth warm periods have historically produced golden ages, cold periods disasters. Compare the medieval warm period to the Little Ice Age that brought it to an end and according to some via a near super volcanic event in the southwest Pacific.

And if you doubt the ability of water to be a heat sink (disregarding the example given above) ask a plumber how hard it is to solder a pile joint with even a TRICKLE of water running through it. It's damn near impossible

You just asked me to name things that I said we don't know about. You might as well ask me to name your third cousin twice removed on you mother's side.

Yet we manage to weld completely submerged... By the way the atmosphere is an even poorer heat transfer than water. That's why we have this thing called a standard lapse rates and why climate zones in mountain ranges tend to stack vertically.

Because the cherry pickers said so?

    https://climateaudit.org/2017/07/11/pages2017-new-cherry-pie/amp/

Rosanne D’Arrigo once explained to an astounded National Academy of Sciences panel that you had to pick cherries if you wanted to make cherry pie – a practice followed by D’Arrigo and Jacoby who, for their reconstructions, selected tree ring chronologies which went the “right” way and discarded those that went the wrong way – a technique which will result in hockey sticks even from random red noise.

The actual evidence as opposed to the cherry picked says other wise. And even the notion that it is over heated is largely a fantasy.

Well the actual geological evidence strongly suggest that it was pretty much world wide as do written records from China India and Japan.

Because most of the posters here are anonymous........
they tend to let themselves behave rather badly.........

I actually use my own name so I have put pressure on myself to
at least try my best to write at a somewhat higher level. Here I am
    writing to local political leaders:

Jamie Baillie, Nova Scotia, Israel and Jordan.

You dodged the issue, which is that even if you stopped all CO2 emissions yesterday, glaciers and ice sheets will still melt, because that's what happens during Inter-Glacial Periods.

It's deceitful and disingenuous to mislead people into believing that if only they would halt CO2 emissions, they will be spared the effects of sea level rise, when that is simply not true.
