At a party I attended last night someone said to me he can't watch the news any more cuz it's too vitriolic and depressing. To that I say, buck up buddy. Conservatives have been on a relentless 40 year quest to overturn Roe. A battle they did not shy away from. We can not shrink from a battle now.

It was the apathy of Dem voters that left us with the Orange Menace and thus three radical, right wing justices. That and McTreason's unconscionable betrayal of justice, followed by his hypocritical reversal in tactics.

Now is not the time to throw up one's hands. Now is the time to fight back. In the short run, things like this could help. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...secute-abortion-care/ar-AAYQe2f?ocid=BingNews
I would also encourage those who can afford it to send money to help fund organizations who are paying for women to travel to states where abortion is allowed.

In the longer run, we need to work like hell in the recognition we are, as is almost always the case on the issues, in the majority. Also in recognition they cheat like hell so we have to work all the harder. Gerrymandering needs to be ended. National standards for voting need to be passed. The EC needs to be abolished. The will of the people can prevail again but sitting on our collective hands and moaning isn't going to get it done. Organize.

This is hopeless, one cannot win a race where your side competes with the arm and a leg tied behind the back. That's how our political system is, it gives automatic advantage to the conservatives.

It is no fluke that the SC has been conservative majority for 50+ years. It doesn't matter how much Dems go out and vote, they cannot overcome their intrinsic disadvantage.

Don't agree - if they had a better candidate in 2016, or if Hillary wasn't so disliked, they would have the majority right now

I have to agree with this. Democrats screwed themselves putting up horrible candidates like Hillary and Biden. It's mistakes like this that get us stuck with morons like Trump for president. Hopefully they learn their lesson for the next election. And hopefully republicans come to their senses and find somebody better than Trump to be their candidate.

The GOP still would have had the Senate. McConnell would have done to Hillary's nominations the same thing he did to Garland -- unless she nominated a VERY centrist or even conservative candidate.

You could start a fund to bus people to states with legal abortions who can't afford it themselves. Seems that would have the greatest positive impact.

The location of pro and anti abortion states are actually pretty amenable to something like this, most states which will now ban abortion border a state that will not. The deep south is an exception, but the distances involved are not insurmountable.

The left has a lot of money, most of them are located in big cities and financial centres. Bus tickets are relatively inexpensive.

So while you might not like this ruling, in practice there are ways around it.

Buck up there Dems. Dry up those tears. You got work to do. Da Trumpsta is still out there….lurking….waiting…looking for that sure sign of Dem weakness. So head to your safe space. Grab a puppy to hug and a Starbucks, with sprinkles. Head to your safe space and cry it out. You have work to do. That bad man is still lurking …

No Lee, the institutions that we are supposed to use to fight back are all broken and corrupted. There is a limited amount of energy, and there is no place left to put it besides the simplest of token efforts. Sure we can vote, and should, but beyond that our hope is outside that constitution, outside SCOTUS and its rulings, outside of Congress, and the White House. We cannot remain tethered to these deplorables in any way. Let's leave.

I'm a disillusioned Democrat who has said that if the price of gas reaches $5 a gallon then I'm not going to vote for the Democrats. And, if it gets to $7 a gallon I'm automatically becoming a Republican.

Lucky for me, and the Democrats, the New York State gas price has yet to reach $5. It's been close at $4.9X, and the national average of gas today (6/26/2022)(according to Bing) is still at $4.9X despite there being a few states that have gone over $5.

I'm not donating to the Democrats anymore, although I've been an active donor in the past.

I'm also not sending money for women to have an abortion.

Communism is so early 20th century. It's gone and the world has moved on. Perhaps it's time to get past any notion that the Democrats are Communists.

Actually none of it does. What they're pushing is more closely aligned to totalitarianism .. or oligarchy.

If they were communists, they'd be looking to decentralise and empower the people. They'd be doing the opposite of what they are doing.

Indeed. It's been many years since they were invested in the empowerment of the common man.

Gives more impetus to the proposition that the USA is fundamentally structurally farked and until you change that dumbarsse archaic Constitution it will remain so.

Every single nation that has ever existed has had at least one period where it had a totalitarian regime, why do people think we are immune to that?

Abolishing the EC would effectively legalize secession as it would create a breach of contract between fedgov and the states. It would be no different than if you start a business with someone on the agreement that you share profits 50/50, then you keep 60% of the profit. It renders the entire agreement null and void and they can legally just leave.

abolishing the electoral college would require an amendment. if amendments constituted "breach of contract" then the secession would have occurred on the 11th amendment.

That’s weird. I say the same thing about the left while I watch them burn down medical centers, hold representatives as hostages and attack churches while they scream about how the constitution is a relic and needs to be eliminated, the SCOTUS needs to be eliminated, the electoral college needs to be eliminated

Nah buddy it’s y’all who have changed. Not us.
