    1) Women who have had abortions suffer an increased risk of anxiety, depression, and suicide. A study published in a recent edition of the Journal of Anxiety Disorders found that women who aborted their unintended pregnancies were 30 percent more likely to subsequently report all the symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder than those women who had carried their unintended pregnancies to term.

    2) A study of a state-funded medical insurance program in California published in the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry in 2002 showed that the rate of mental health claims for women who aborted was 17 percent higher than those who had carried their children to term.

    3) And, according to a 1996 article in the British Medical Journal and a 2002 article in the Southern Medical Journal, the risk of death from suicide is two to six times higher for women who have had abortions when compared, again, with women who have given birth.

    4) Several studies analyzed in a landmark 2003 article in the Obstetrical and Gynecological Survey show that induced abortion also increases the risk of placenta previa by 50 percent and doubles the risk of pre-term birth in later pregnancies.

    5) Placenta previa – where the placenta implants at the bottom of the uterus and covers the cervix – places the lives of both mother and child at risk in that later pregnancy. Pre-term birth is associated with low birth-weight babies, and very low birth-weight babies (those born between 20 and 27 weeks) have 38 times the risk of having cerebral palsy – not to mention medical costs 28 times greater than full-term babies. According to Dr. Byron Calhoun, director of the Antenatal Diagnostic Center at Rockford Memorial Hospital in Illinois, approximately 30 percent of pre-term births – which now account for 6 percent of all births are attributable to prior abortions.

    6) It is now common medical knowledge that a full-term pregnancy, especially before the age of 32, acts as a protective mechanism against breast cancer. Thus, research shows that teenagers with a family history of breast cancer who have abortions before their 18th birthday have an incalculably high risk of developing breast cancer.

    7) The risk of breast cancer is high for those young women who are delaying their first full-term pregnancy through abortion, yet such women are rarely informed of this indisputable link.

    8) Through abortion, a woman artificially terminates her pregnancy at a time when her breast cells have been exposed to high levels of potentially cancer-initiating estrogen but before those cells have matured into cancer-resistant cells (as they ultimately do in a full-term pregnancy). According to breast surgeon Dr. Angela Lanfranchi, The same biology that accounts for 90 percent of all risk factors for breast cancer accounts for the abortionbreast cancer link.

    9) a 1994 article in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology revealed that abortions performed at more than 16 weeks gestation have 15 times the risk of maternal mortality as those performed during the first trimester.

    10) When Planned Parenthood estimates that 43 percent of women will have abortions before they turn 45 years old, and with more than a million abortions performed each year, these collected data reveal a serious womens health issue that must be addressed. Yet all too often, the evidence is simply denied or ignored.

    This is, of course, along with the 100% mortality rate of the unfortunate fetus whose "neural pathways are present for pain to be experienced" early on....So says Robert J. White, M.D., PhD., professor of neurosurgery, Case Western University.

    Abortion procedure:

    The first task is remove the laminaria that had earlier been placed in the cervix to dilate it sufficiently to allow the procedure you are about to perform. With that accomplished, direct your attention to the surgical instruments arranged on a small table to your right. The first instrument you reach for is a 14-French suction catheter. It is clear plastic and about nine inches long. It has a bore through the center approximately 3/4 of an inch in diameter. Picture yourself introducing the catheter through the cervix and instructing the circulating nurse to turn on the suction machine which is connected through clear plastic tubing to the catheter. What you will see is a pale yellow fluid the looks a lot like urine coming through the catheter into a glass bottle on the suction machine. This amniotic fluid surrounded the baby to protect her.

    Next...

    With suction complete, look for your Sopher clamp. This instrument is about thirteen inches long and made of stainless steel. At one end are located jaws about 2 inches long and about an an inch wide with rows of sharp ridges or teeth. This instrument is for grasping and crushing tissue. When it gets hold of something, it does not let go.

    So far so 'good?'

    A second trimester D&E abortion is a blind procedure. The baby can be in any orientation or position inside the uterus. Picture yourself reaching in with the Sopher clamp and grasping anything you can. At twenty weeks gestation, the uterus is thin and soft so be careful not to perforate or puncture the walls. Once you have grasped something inside, squeeze on the clamp to set the jaws and pull hard – really hard. You feel something let go and out pops a fully formed leg about 4 to 5 inches long. Reach in again and grasp whatever you can. Set the jaw and pull really hard once again and out pops an arm about the same length. Reach in again and again with that clamp and tear out the spine, intestines, heart and lungs.

    The toughest part of a D&E abortion is extracting the baby’s head. The head of a baby that age is about the size of a plum and is now free floating inside the uterine cavity. You can be pretty sure you have hold of it if the Sopher clamp is spread about as far as your fingers will allow. You will know you have it right when you crush down on the clamp and see a pure white gelatinous material issue from the cervix. That was the baby’s brains. You can then extract the skull pieces. If you have a really bad day like I often did, a little face may come out and stare back at you.”

    Congratulations! You have just successfully performed a Suction D&E abortion. You just affirmed her right to choose. You just made $600 cash in fifteen minutes.

    LOL! So you don't believe pregnancy has any bad effects on women, you blow that off...but very biased sources tells you what you want to hear and you accept that. All of a sudden you now CARE about women!?! :roflol:

    No matter what pregnancy does to a woman's body, no matter what abortion does to a woman's body...


    it is HER choice alone...not yours.

    No matter if pregnancy granted perfect health, wealth and immortality...the choice to not have one is the right of women.

    Women have the POWER and CONTROL to be pregnant or not .....I am sure that is your problem.

    Dr. Paul Ranalli, neurologist, University of Toronto, the person who you cite uses data from so called specialists that has been called into question and shown to be unreliable by other less biased specialists.

    Abortion in France is available on demand, no questions asked up to 12 weeks, and it's widely accessible and free. Western European countries are moving forward in their treatment of women, and also have lower abortion rates. We could learn something from them.

    Once again, pro-choicers have dragged out the old lie about illegal abortions being done by "back-alley butchers."

    Since there are plenty of filthy legal abortion mills, we can assume that there were at least some filthy illegal abortion mills. But they were hardly the norm.

    So are you saying that illegal abortions will be safe, so it's OK to criminalize abortions? Why do that, unless you simply want to make it possible for doctors to charge more for the same service?

    I was referring to the fact that Anti-choicers voted in Republicans , the Anti-Choice party, the party that wants to take away affordable health care and reproductive freedom from women.
    The party that has introduced 100's of bills that are Anti-Choice, Anti-Woman.

    Back to the topic: Abortion is a social good: I didn't have the time to look up all 32 pages of the present discussion, but the first 10 postings at least had "Nazi Germany" included in their postings. Let met remind you, that race hygiene, that is the eradication of "inferiors" and "imperfect beings" is an American invention which started in the beginning of the 20th century. This is not to blame anyone, but something must be understood:
    The underlying science was the science of "Eugenics". Even the theory of the blond and blue eyed Aryan master race is American origin, being published first in 1907 in Madison Grant's "The Passing of the Great Race" (In 1923 Hitler sent Madison Grant a fan letter, calling the book his "Bible"). German race hygiene was founded and financed by American sources, mainly the Carnegie and Rockefeller foundations. Even Josef Mengele was on the payroll of the Rockefeller foundation. After Germany in 1934 as the 30th state in the world released race hygiene legislation, one of the leading US Eugenicists wrote to a colleague:"You will be interested to know that your work has played a powerful part in shaping the opinions of the group of intellectuals who are behind Hitler in this epoch-making program. Everywhere I sensed that their opinions have been tremendously stimulated by American thought . . . I want you, my dear friend, to carry this thought with you for the rest of your life, that you have really jolted into action a great government of 60 million people." .
    The same year a member of the SS was invited to speak about German race hygiene on the annual meeting of the American Public Health Association in Pasadena/California.
    In 1927 the US Supreme Court ruled in Buck vs. Bell: It is better for all the world if, instead of waiting to execute degenerate offspring for crime or to let them starve for their imbecility, society can prevent those who are manifestly unfit from continuing their kind. ...Three generations of imbeciles are enough. That ruling was directly used by the Nazis to advertise race hygiene at home.

    After the Nazi leaders had been hanged for their race hygiene excesses, all 5 international journals of Eugenics were renamed, Eugenics itself was renamed into "Human Biology" and "Human Genetics", its history was erased from history text books and its 5 world congresses (London, Berlin, Rotterdam, 2 x New York) were "forgotten".
    That is the problem with a science going "underground". It continues to operate, however subversive and not under the control of ethics and/or the law. That makes it more dangerous than ever. One example for "Eugenics" still being alive and working is this very present topic.

    The historically Eugenics policy has absolutely nothing to do with present day abortion .. end of story.

    Each justificatiom of an abortion to be "in the interest of the society" has not only something to do with Eugenics, it is Eugenics.

    Then I suggest you actually learn what eugenics is;

    When you can show that abortion is used to allow "breeding to increase the occurrence of desirable heritable characteristics" you might have a point, until then you don't. If anything abortion is the direct opposite of eugenics, unless, again you can show that abortion is only available to women who are deemed to be carrying undesirable heritable characteristics .. care to try?
