I was never prescribed Adderall and didn't take it as a teenager. I did try it in my 30's and I'm here to tell you this is hardcore speed. These kids are addicted and they are being told to take them from a doctor. I just read a forum post about withdrawals. Good lord. Adderall pumps you up with serotonin. The brain loves it. It makes us happy. Adderall does such a good job the brain pretty much stops making serotonin. When you stop the Adderall intake at this point your serotonin will plummet. Heavy depression and lethargy. Anyway, just wanted to say what was on my mind. Hope someone can relate a story.
Because general practitioners mistake their reaction to knowing where the human race is heading for organic depression?
"Adderall. Why are so many young people on it?" too much sugar harms the brain, I think this is part of it sugar is in almost everything now... the low fat recommendations by the government are a big part of the problem
It's vastly overprescribed, probably ten or twenty times more than it should be. In today's hypercompetitive environment, a child is viewed as having something wrong with them if they can't pay attention in class and get good school grades, and parents are looking for an easy fix. It's basically just a legal stimulant. How would we feel if doctors started prescribing vodka to children with stress or anxiety problems? I see this as the same sort of thing.
