Afghanistan- disaster unfolding without leadership.

There are some communications getting out of Kabul besides the things Biden and the MSM claim, coming from various people actually observing the crisis. I've been trying to keep track of their statements, and watching the official ones as well. Lots of contradictions. While it's true that the comments by such people are not official news reports, there is little reason to think they are propaganda.... I wait to see how many prove accurate, and how much of the official claims are pure propaganda.

From a military officer (not clear if he is US or Afghan) these points-

* There is no jet fuel at the airport, and none expected. Planes must arrive with enough fuel to depart and reach a safe landing where fuel is available, or be refueled in the air, which would be military aircraft only.

* The number of people who need out is underestimated. The number not only around Kabul but in surrounding towns and the country is more likely 100,000; if the Afghans who need our are added, that number increases much more.

*The Taliban is not allowing safe passage to the airport for Americans. Many have been beaten and threatened along the way. There is full chaos at the airport, security does not have ti under control.

*Flight line is chaotic. The runway is partially obstructed. C-17's are taking 640 people but if they are unable to refuel in the air quickly, they will be down in Taliban territory.

*The airport no longer has functioning navigational aids. Things down are ground approach radar, ILS (instrument support landing system) a functional tower of in-flight air traffic control. There are no spare parts, ground support equipment, no crash recovery team/equipment/medical/emergency room, nor an array of other normal airport management that makes an airport operate.

Joe's got it all under control, no crisis exists.

 

Nice story.

 

We'll see - can Joe make a questionable decision work in the end? Time will tell.

Let's consider this next time your party leaders advocate for invading another country. In fact, GWB should have anticipated this outcome. Why didn't he? And, I bet you voted for him and cheered when we invaded. So, don't give us this holier than though attitude. The real culprits are those that got us into this quagmire, not the ones who inherited it and try to end it under difficult circumstances.

what disaster is that? thousands have been evacuated with virtually no casualties. this has turned out to be one of biden's and the military's greatest accomplishments.

I had thought about this, seems the same people that are so worried about them staying in Afghanistan are the same ones that are fighting against brining them to the US

We did not actually invade. The Afghani forces there were paid by Gen. Franks and armed. Our role on the ground were spotters for our own war planes.

Bush set his goal ahead of time. Free Afghanistan, hope for their Government to assume it's role and go home.
Later events caused Infantry from our side to enter. We got down to no deaths on our side for over the past year.

It is as if this information is classified by somebody.

 

Essentially the above post puts blame going back to 20 years and attempts to explain away why the Biden administration is so incompetent.
