After DeSantis pushback, College Board drops Critical Race Theory from AP course (Update)

The bottom line here is that Florida said no and the College Board blinked. The actual changes are mostly to a few sections of the curriculum at the end dealing with current hot topics (intersectionality, BLM, critical race theory). The bulk of the course is unchanged. So we’ll have to wait and see if those changes are enough to pass muster with Florida’s Department of Education. Politically, this might be a good place to declare victory and take the W.

Great. Hard to justify what queer theory has to do with Black history. Or how great BLM is or convincing students the country is systemically racist.

That escalated quickly.

 

The Florida Legislature passed a bill that was signed into Law by Governor DeSantis that made it a felony to teach out of books that have not been approved by the state, (which is fine, however they also) failed to tell the schools which books are “approved” and which ends-up a teacher in the klink.

This causes the schools to pull “all books” from the shelves that haven’t (yet?) been approved by the state as of today.

This is not “governing” it’s “ruling” and we ain’t having it.

 

Liberals cry when their attempts to indoctrinate are discovered, exposed and eliminated.

 

I’m ok with a state legislature eliminating indoctrination in public education.

 

It’s hard because it doesn’t belong in such a course.

 

I know I did. Especially thinking about how fragile poor wittle Ronny DeSanty is. LOL

 

Nothing dumb about me noting that Ronny DeSanty is a fragile bitch.

 

I wouldn’t use phrases like that if I were you — both words that you no experience with.

Why would it be appropriate or academically relevant to include something called “queer theory” into an African American studies course?

 

They both study concepts that intersect with one another, social and cultural phenomena and how society has been structured around those concepts.

Why do you feel that adults shouldn’t be allowed to discuss this in university settings?

Y’all moved rapidly from we are protecting very young kids from seeing that gay people exist to now saying that adults should not even be allowed to learn these concepts.

It’s why so many call Republicans fascist — we saw this coming.
