You do realize it is a woman behind the bill and that it's purpose is to be so extreme as to get a fast track to SCOTUS to get a valid legal opinion on RvW. IF RvW, a big if, were overturned it would not outlaw abortion but send the issue of abortion back to the states and allow the people through their states to determine what the law should say about abortion.
I don't think the founding fathers looked at it as a federal issue but a state issue which is what the goal of all these states is pointing towards.
Any and all pregnancies can end with the death of the mother because of medical complications. There are no exceptions to that medical truth.
Oh, I don't know... ...perhaps, her inability to maintain consciousness? There ya go. Like I said earlier, if she put her principles before her own personal interests she would have ensured that a president who shared her views appointed a successor who shared them, too. That's just my opinion and it's no skin off my back. The worst that could happen is that another Lefty fills her seat, but I don't think my friends across the aisle enjoy the luxury of my complacency. In fact, their fear was palpable after her last fall. I could be wrong, but she appears to have the same problem a lot of pro athletes have - they don't know when to retire and find a new direction in life.
Which means that any anti-abortion laws would be worthless except to punish the very poor as anyone else would simply travel across state lines to get the abortion. If you read the original Roe v. Wade decision, that was a concern of the Justices - that anti-abortion laws only applied to the poor and enforcement of said laws was unequal.
Probably because that only makes up less than 1% of all abortions, and women would just lie, falsely claiming to be raped. Besides, a woman who is sexually assaulted always has the option of a Plan B pill immediately after the assault.
We have a constitutional right to bear arms, does that mean the government should make sure poor people can afford guns?
Considering that Planned Parenthood also has well-baby services and prenatal care, along with cancer screening - you would be wrong.
The left seem deathly afraid of we the people deciding this issue. Right now we have some of the most extreme abortion laws in the world, up there with China and North Korea.
Why doesn't the woman who has just been raped use the widely available and safe medications to insure she will conceive a new life?
Travelling over state lines to do it wouldn't necessarily make it legal. Too complicated to get into it in this thread though. If the woman wanted out she'd have to become a resident in another state, and the conception would have [presumably] had to occur in some state outside Alabama.
It would apply to everyone but the fact remains the founding fathers left it to the states. These actions by the several states aims to get it back to that.
Read the original Roe v. Wade decision. Anti-abortion laws were overturned in great part because they were not evenly applied.
Moronic statement. The woman isn't FORCED to get an abortion if she is raped. She is given an OPTION. Why would post such a stupid reply?
