The twisted child who picks up a gun to kill 10 students and teachers is an example of liberal generational “progress”

    God help us all

Often because gay men wanted the legal benefits of marriage. Child custody, employment benefits, home ownership equalization, etc. Frankly when I got married, the only reason I did it was for legal reasons for the kids. I didn't need marriage to be committed to my significant other.

I have lectured forums on this topic since around 1998. And I agree with you that marriage is over children. And you I will congratulate as the first Democrat that has ever admitted it.

Marriage is not at all about love. Millions of marriages take place annually and have nothing to do with love.

Children are the prime cause of marriage. Homosexuals did not need marriage. Why did you leave out the real reason? Money to them. They found that absent marriage, no cash came to them. They wanted money.

Children are one reason for some people...no matter of sexual orientation. I absolutely know people that got married to formalize their relationship due to children...it was certainly the reason that I did it (also power of attorney reasons). Some people get married for other financial considerations...benefits sharing, power of attorney, budget sharing, home ownership, pension splitting, etc etc. Some people get married because they just want to formalize their relationship. People get married for a myriad of reasons. Unfortunately, civil unions don't offer the same legal protections and benefit sharing that marriage does.

I'm not sure what you mean by "wanting money"...are you talking about medical benefits at work? Because absolutely homosexual couples should have the right to that.

They also wanted the recognition that it was OK and acceptable in society to be gay.

Sad for the former and good for the latter but I was talking about here and our society.

Certainly a lot of people..both homosexual and heterosexual...use marriage to legitimize and formalize their relationship.

It's really telling those are the ONLY solutions YOU could come up with.

You realize gay couples also have children, correct?

Marriage is a civil contract - there was no valid reason to keep them from signing a legal document besides religion, which has zero barring on the law.

You and others keep saying stuff about "forcing" people to get married.

    Why?

No one here has suggested "forcing" people to do anything of the sort.

So according to the Bible almost half of parents in America are hell-bound. The Bible is disgusting.

I think you misread her post. She is advocating NOT to be forced into marriage.

Yes, God/Jesus hates, utterly HATES, gays so incredibly much so that he won't even let them into "heaven" (no matter how good, ethical, they might be) - 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. He will see that they get tortured far worse than even HITLER tortured his very worst Jewish enemy. So Jesus is far more brutal, and therefore less ethical/loving, than even Hitler (against innocent people, no less!)

Your generation is far far BETTER than certain previous generations - your generation is far far more ethical then even God/Jesus since God/Jesus approved of slavery, approved of treating women as HALF a man, said to kill gays (Leviticus), etc.

You seem to have mistaken bemusement and amazement for anger. Not the most perceptive soul, are we?

    Again, what's your solution?

    Forced marriages?

    Make divorce illegal?

    Preaching on street corners?

FORCING people to listen to your advice?

    WTF? Those aren't my solutions!

Oh, yet another one who doesn't know the little squiggly things at the end of a sentence are QUESTION marks....that means they are QUESTIONS, questions put to you and others that YOU NEVER COULD ANSWER.

Very telling that you have neve come up with any solution...

The poster is illustrating that if marriage was “just a piece of paper” that gays wouldn’t have fought so hard to get the right to marry. Marriage has legal and tax purposes that make it more than just a piece of paper.
