    That is an interesting question........
When John the Baptist was asked by a Roman soldier what they should do to
remain ethical Gentiles / Noahides..... according to John's teachings.... he did
not tell them that they had to quit the Roman Legions.

    Luke 3:14

"And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages."

John the Baptist was setting the stage for the teachings of Rabbi Yeshua - Jesus to
    go out to the Gentiles.

He was setting the stage for a relatively ethical army of Christians that would remind us of
the armies under Joshua and King David.

The quotation by Rabbi Nachman of Breslov that is in my signature
sure sounds to be in the spirit of the Sermon on the Mount.... which is
a good example of the ideal..........
a Christian police officer or soldier should actually love the lost.....
    no matter how messed up......
if it is necessary to take lives.... this should not be done in hatred.

But..... the world needs a policeman or
an Islamic - Communist coalition will turn the whole world
    into a nightmare.................
Under President Obama it seems that we forced our armies to
be somewhat like the army under Joab.... .who withdrew from Uriah.....
    and he was killed.........

We abandoned the Middle EAst....... and the genocide on Christians and
Yazidis and other minorities.... is on the head of President Obama.... to at
least some degree.... although I suppose he was convinced that what he
    was doing was practical.

    I like that one too......

    Matthew 10:34

34Do not assume that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35For I have come to turn ‘A man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36A man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’…
