(Announcement) Redesign and Major Updates for New Year's 2013

    Updates

    Major Redesign:
    - New color scheme instead of the overused vBulletin default
    - Greatly improved navigation that makes everything more convenient (more tabs, and menu bar after you select a tab has good options)
    - New PF forum icons and thread icons (thread icons are more intuitive now) but would take a few days to get used to, if you're used to the typical vBulletin icons.
    - Nicer sortable listing of social groups which also shows description & number of members/discussions/photos and last post details
    - Better display of My Groups
    - Easier to read font
    - Nicer listing of sub-forums*
    - Popular Threads page redesigned*
    - Hot threads criteria was far too low. Changed so now the indicator will be useful.
    - Locked threads have a new icon near the start of the title.
    - Added "My Posts" and "My Threads" options under Forum > Quick Links

    Activity Feeds:
    - Feeds for your Friends' Activity and All Activity are easily accessible in the menu.
    Activity is very useful. You can see their Forum posts, Visitor Messages, or activity in Social Groups, Albums, and Blogs.
    - Clicking someone username lets you choose All Activity, whereas before you could only see their Posts

    Gallery:
    - Many great options for browsing Galleries, Albums, and Pictures
    - You can now browse forum attachments
    - Browse recent comments on pictures
    - You can search comments, albums, pictures, and attachments
    - View comments you left
    - Everyone can upload more album pictures than before

    Donors:
    - PM boxes increased for Donors
    - Donors can upload more Album pictures
    - Platinum Donors can view "Who Has Read This Thread"
    - FAQ added about donating without showing it on the site

    New Forums:
    - Sports added under More Topics *
    - Music, TV, Movies & Other Media added under More Topics *
    - Animal Welfare forum added under Other Political Issues *

    Other:
    - Additional performance tweaks have been done as well.
    - Added Donor Benefits page explaining each Level
    - The tagging system is undergoing improvements so that it's more useful.
    - More categories added for Groups
    - FAQ layout improved
    - Tracking of unread/read posts will last longer *
    - Misc benefits for Regulars (members with 500+ posts)
    - Other misc changes/additions in the last 9 days, and some significant ones the previous week

    * = released before the New Year

    Some of the font sizes are still being changed & there are still a few small formatting issues being worked on. Please do not report those as issues.

    Any chance of adding a 'jump to my last post' so I don't have to constantly go through my profile to get to my last post in a thread that's jumped about 20 pages since I last checked?

    I only ask cause I have a couple other sites I check that have this feature and with the size of the threads in this forum I think it would help immensely.

    otherwise, love the upgrades.

    We already have that feature. When you are viewing a list of threads, the ones with unread posts have a very small blue circle with white arrows. Near the start of the title of the thread, near the PF stars. Click this small blue circle to be taken to your first unread post.

    Or, if you are viewing a thread, and it has unread posts, you can click the small blue circle near the title of the thread (in the bar) to be taken to the first unread post.

    Where is the Whats new tab for new threads. The new activity doesn't post new threads but new posts.

    Under "New Activity", the "New Posts" text link on the menu bar, brings you to the same results as the old "What's New" tab.

    You can also click "Unread Posts" in the top right corner of the site.

    Is there a way to adjust down the native font/text size in the post dialog box?

    The much larger size seems more difficult (for me) to read.

    I just bought a new laptop yesterday and got it online. Upon visiting PF right after midnight, I saw the new color scheme and other visuals and thought, wow this is nice laptop! lol. Then I realized that this is what y'all have been working on. After exploring for a while I was very impressed. Great work! I'll donate some more for your efforts and their results.

    Now, back to exploring.

    There isn't. You can make the font smaller using your browser, though. In almost all browsers, you press CTRL and - (minus key). Then CTRL and + to increase the size later (for viewing other websites).

    ... the new design is eye-catching, yet at the same time easy on the eyes...

    ... must be the combo of colors...

    ... the post text box and displayed posts are easier to read too...

    ... quite a professional look now.

    I agree, The green is almost indistinguishable from the black, at least for me.

    The green is really popping out on my device. A much darker green would be preferrable. Maybe a blue would be better. What can I say. Also there is too much green in places. I thought it was St. Patrick's Day. The main thread list could be black I think. My name could be black. The embedded links could be blue or black. The green is too bright. There's too much of it.

    The icons also look stupid. The green globe is fine, although green. The star icon is childish and should be just a plain paper icon.

    I will send you some green, soon, in donation! Please... spray some weed killer soon on the forum and get some of the green to different colors.

    The stars on the site give it a much more homosexual vibe and I'm glad to see the site embrace the progressive lifestyles.

    Time, money and effort would have been better employed getting the forum to work properly. There was nothing wrong with the older format. Change for the sake of it?

    Now if only the right wingers would cut their crap & learn to be more open minded, this would be the perfect political site. But since they won't, we patriots will just have to keep whipping them.
