Here is the story from ABC News: Why did this couple have their children taken away in the first place, you ask? From the ABC News article: Not sure what "anti-government rally" they're referring to, but, apparently, there were some pot-smokers there, and the father of the "kidnapped" children happened to be one of them. For this grievous sin, he had his children taken away from him by the state and placed into foster care - a nightmare for the children as well as the parents, no doubt - a reasonable reaction considering the weighty severity of his egregious conduct! Now, if he had thrown a KEG-party in his back yard, that would have been perfectly acceptable, but smoking pot in front of the kids? Hey! That's just way out! Marijuana is a "dangerous" controlled substance, didn't ya' know? Anyway, the details surrounding the "kidnapping" are somewhat uncertain at this point, so I'm not going to say whether or not the couple was justified in their actions, however, I can say with absolute certainty that the initial decision to take away their children was an instance of REAL kidnapping by statist thugs that has effectively caused the ruin of this family. Sickening how politicians and law enforcement are always conspiring against the rights of the citizenry and forcing them into untenable situations where your choice is to lose your children or become a criminal in the eyes of the state.
Spidey sense is going off that these parents didn't loose their children on the sole basis of a drug charge and attending a rally. So as to avoid a snap judgement, I'll wait for a more thorough report. They just tied up their own mother. . .
It wasn't because of the drug charge or the rally per se, it was because he was in possession of a "dangerous" controlled substance (schedule 1, same as heroin) while in the presence of the child. I agree we don't have all the facts but my spidey sense is going in the opposite direction of yours.
I think a government that bombs children overseas is not exactly the government to decide what's in the best interest of children here at home. Its track record sucks.
