Since we've been talking about the wall, scaling the wall, if they can or cannot get through, it could never be a strawman to ask you to prove your assertions about the standing topic.

Extension ladders weigh 2 pounds minimum per foot of length, as a facility engineering rule of thumb. A 32 footer, the minimum needed, equates to dragging 64 pounds across the desert, or two carrying it. Gets old very fast. Ask any house maintenance people. Not cheap either. But I agree, they should have tried ladders at five or ten miles distance just to see how well ladders worked and how much it took out of them, and how safe ladders are in that application.
