How so? Are you saying a teacher can't handle firearms?

 

I’m a teacher and no..I don’t think I could handle a gun....I fear them. I’m an educator not a cop. I can’t handle performing surgery either . Should I be required to learn that?

What a preposterous assertion. I want responsible adults - with whom we already trust our children - to have the ability to shoot back should the worst happen. Better than cowering behnd a desk waiting to be executed before watching children you care about die.

Then Worry more about gun control! And how ridiculous to think if I have a gun I will have it right next to me...shooters use the element of surprise. Maybe I would just say, “wait a minute, while I get my gun “ if only you cared about kids as much as you do about guns.

Red herring. Cops are not the only ones capable of deploying a firearm successfully.

 

No one is requiring you to do so. BUT if someone could and was willing then why not? Some teachers already have experience and besides it's not that hard to learn, especially with modern techniques and weapons. In my state, CCW permit holders have to pass the same qualifier as the state police. Why are you scared of firearms? They won't do a thing to you.

That's nuts! I trust teachers to teach our children. Not to go on a gunslinger fight against a psychopath with an assault rifle.

 

I didn't make up anything. You were the one who said I was the first one to point out the fact that arming teachers so they could get into a gun fight with a psychopath using an assault weapon is transforming them into vigilantes.

 

If my book goes Into a 4th edition , I will have to include a chapter in how to shoot Imtruders carrying assault weapons.

We are talking about volunteer teachers who already have an LTC before they are trained by police. What are you going to teach them in your book?

 

I understand you are afraid of guns — that’s fine. But that does not mean everyone else is.

 

How many times do we have to tell you that nobody is suggesting anybody be required to carry guns? I understand that you are afraid of guns and that’s fine. Don’t carry a gun. You still haven’t given a reason why a trained teacher is incapable of carrying a gun that they already carry everywhere else.

 

Better to hide behind a desk and hope the psychopath runs out of ammo before he gets to your classroom, eh?
