    Please cite the post in which I suggested this should be a requirement. You won’t find it because it is not there.

    As to the inane suggestion that you or another teacher would shoot your students, perhaps you should find another line of work as it seems you hold your profession in very low regard.

    Or learn to defend yourself and your students. I’d be happy to teach you. I’ve taken people out who’ve never even held a gun and in 30 minutes they are hitting their targets and enjoying the experience.

    Gun control is only for the law-abiding.

    The firearm will be concealed on your person.

    I should remind you that I am not the topic of this thread. That said, your suggestion is nothing but idealistic wishful thinking. Mine is pragmatic engagement of an immediate threat.

    There are no guarantees, but given the choice to be able to shoot back versus just cowering and waiting for a certain death, which would you choose?

    You ignored my earlier post where I stated the weapon is concealed on your person, didn’t you? The one where I told you you’d be able to draw and fire in one second... Inconvenient to your position I know...

    But I’ll play along. Even if you stupidly don’t have your weapon at the ready (which no permitted carrier would do), you will still be one of several adults in the building with access to a weapon. Now it is an indesputable fact that when you are being shot at, it is always better to be able to shoot back. You can only shoot back if you have a weapon and you know how to use it.

    I am sorry but your idealism is only going to result in more dead kids and teachers. Banning weapons will not prevent these atrocities. Refusing to prepare for the next one is frankly irresponsible.

    Or before the teacher starts shooting at anybody who "looks" suspicious. Which is what vigilantes do.

    You think that you give a teacher a gun and they'll suddenly become Rambo? More likely, if they don't just hide with the gun in their hands, they'll be shooting at anything that moves.

    Real life and this comic-book world you live in in your mind are very diffeerent In real life, teachers teach, and guards guard.

    In the way that people not apt for law enforcement with a gun in their hands, would "enforce" the law.
    Because the right refuses to ban them. Or even to keep them away from psychopaths...

    In Texas, the teachers carrying in school are School Marshals and will work with local police. Since they are government sanctioned and trained, how can you call them vigilantes?

    Who would force someone without the aptitude or motivation to use a firearm to do so. That is unless you live in liberal la la land. The depth of liberal fantasies on this topic really know no bounds. BTW self defense is NOT law enforcement. There is a huge difference.

    What happens when the psychopath with a gun kills the guard?
