There are between 300,000 and 400,000 Christians in Turkey.

Syrian's oil in eastern syria is depleted since 1996 an there is no market demand for oil from the Golan or the Eastern men. Assad signed it all over to Putin last year.

Wrong! There are 20 million crypto Christians in Turkey, but they don't dare reveal themselves.

Winnie the Pooh loves Trump, too. He is obediently staying away from Hong Kong as they fight desperately for their freedom in what is too likely to be a lost cause without our help. The transactional sociopath playing president probably not only doesn't care about Hong Kong, but hopes he will get his little trade deal by throwing Hong Kong under the bus. Reminds me of when he tucked tail and ran away from Venezuela after Putin stepped in, which in turn echoed what happened in Syria, which brings us back to what this thread is all about: Trump serves foreign dictators, because he perceives doing so as a way to serve his own interests, which he places above US national interests as a matter of course.

Protesters blockade universities, stockpile makeshift weapons as chaos grips Hong Kong

HONG KONG (Reuters) - Anti-government protesters dug in at several university campuses across Hong Kong on Wednesday, setting the stage for further confrontations as police said violence in the Chinese-ruled city had reached a “very dangerous and even deadly level”.

Protesters - many of them young students - spent much of Wednesday fortifying barricades and stockpiling food and makeshift weapons, as other roving bands of masked protesters disrupted transport and businesses in many areas.

Demonstrators have been protesting since June about what they see as meddling by Beijing in the freedoms guaranteed under the “one country, two systems” formula put in place when the former British colony returned to Chinese rule in 1997. Allegations of police brutality have fueled protesters’ anger.

There is less drilling due to sanctions, sure. Iran are partners and competitors as well. The geopolitics is not so clear-cut.

In cosmopolitan areas Christians and Jews live openly without incident. In Rural areas not so much as your cousins may be Muslims.

Look at the pipeline schemes since 2002. Turkstream is the prize and that may be a dud since there isn't capacity to get gas pressure further than the border of Greece. Billions pissed in the wind.

It is a very multifaceted issue; Russia and Turkey will take advantage of this lack and if their plans come to fruition they will build a pipeline.

The battle rages to get access to Syria's natural resources:

    Syria has no natural resources.

There is potential in the Golan and off the Eastern Med Sea. but the market doesn't support capital investment.

Which is it? No natural resources, or no capital investment to get the resources transported and exported? Can you clarify?

You are living in denial. You contradict yourself in your above post. You are not looking at verified facts. This is not a false claim, a subjective argument, but empirically verified facts:

    https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/what-are-the-major-natural-resources-of-syria.html

As far as capital investment, there are several options: Turkey, Russia, Iran, and even the US one day, perhaps, but either way Syria is rich in natural resources.

Oh for heaven's sake Margot, I listened to Assad's speech and the spinning they did in the Arab news is worse than CNN.

    Phosphate - Wikipedia
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phosphate
The three principal phosphate producer countries (China, Morocco and the United States) account for about 70% of world production. Production and global reserves of natural phosphate by country in 2015

Countries With the Largest Phosphate Reserves - WorldAtlas.com
    www.worldatlas.com/articles/countries-with-the...
Since 2010, Syria has been expanding it phosphate reserves but the civil unrest in the country has greatly affected the level of production. Russia, South Africa, the US, Egypt, and Jordan each account for 2% of the world’s phosphate reserves. The largest supplier of phosphate raw material in Russia is the OJSC Apatit. Uhhh, aren't those so called democratic rebels the ones Turkey sent into Syria recently to massacre and ethnically cleanse the Kurds and Christians before the Turkish army entered?

I have news for you, the FSA = Al Queda = Al Nusra = ISIS, they are all one and the same. The arms we gave to FSA were given to Al Nusra, who is the more 'conservative' branch of ISIS. (They're better at beheading Christians).

Had Obama bombed Damascus and allowed the Al Nusra terrorists to enter, it would have become the biggest massacre in history. Other than the Alawites, all the Christians in Syria ran into Damascus to be under Assad's protection and escape Al Nusra's onslaught.

The only reason Washington had for being in Syria, was to keep the war going on so they could get rid of Assad and put in a temporary puppet, who would help them break up the country into ethnic enclaves and Balkanize it. Then the Syrians would always be at one another's throats and remain weak.

That wasn't exactly though what the Syrian people wanted. They wanted Assad's all inclusive and secular government and were willing to die for it - and they did, over 300,000 of them.

    So what else is new?

Crypto Christians means they are hiding their identity out of fear. I heard that many Turks go to Greece to be baptized secretly. It's assumed that the Alevi's are the Pontian Greeks, who like Assad's Alawites, became a part of the Shia faith so they wouldn't have to leave Turkey.

What is a fact is that when the Bible was translated into Turkish about 10 years ago, that about 8 million copies were bought. If one takes into account that a Bible is usually shared in a family, that would mean that there are about 15 to 20 million crypto Christians in Turkey.
