Why? Why do you want to hide respectable black characters?

No I associate her picture with great syrup like should would make in her own kitchen and yes how much quality and thought the company puts into it's presentation can reflect on the quality of the product. Cheap packing can make for lower quality product.

They intentionally modernized her some years ago because of the same type of complaints no doubt. But people haven't forgotten that the makers of this syrup decided to use a mammy caricature to sell it. I wonder when they will change the name. Jemima is anachronistic.

Why do you disrespect the image of a respectable black woman?

In my white Southern extended families we certainly did that, it meant they are part of that extended family.

No, I want to suppress black caricatures and reject the notion that pancake mix and syrup should be associated with house slaves and the antebellum south.

The left is becoming a joke with their everything is racist BS. Here's some of the things they said were racist during the last year or so:

    Huck Finn
    Mary Poppins
    Gone with the wind
    Major League Baseball
    Washington Redskins
    Hats
    Sweaters
    Shoes
    Math
    High school exit exams
    Statues
    Flags
    National Anthem
    Voter ID
    Vetting refugees
    Border security
    Walls
    ICE
White people selling tacos (but not black people selling pizza)
    hair styles
White people who can't speak Spanish
White people who try to speak Spanish
    The china virus
    No Oscar nomination
    Kate Smith
    Columbus Day
    The term black eye
    The term black hole
    The term black sheep
    Golf
Chicago when used as a code word
    Disagreeing with Obama
    Not having insurance
    Poverty
    The term illegal alien
    Coca Cola
    Cereal boxes
    National Geographic
    Hard drives (master and slave)
    Rope
    Banana peels in trees
Lamp cord hanging from a branch
    Bullet proof glass in Philly
Locking up hair products made for certain people because they're stolen too often
    Clothes hanging from the ceiling
    Dukes of Hazard
White people and their privilege and supremacy
    Watermelon
    Fried chicken
White people moving out of high crime areas
White people making improvements in black areas
    Cops
    Justice system
    Prisons
    Chains
    The economy
    The environment
    Arresting subway turnstile jumpers
    Saying all lives matter
Videos of crimes being committed on BART trains
    Physical descriptions of criminals

And on and on and on.

I've been asking the left to name something, anything, that isn't racist, and so far the ONLY person, place or thing on the planet that isn't racist is the black guy who beat the crap out of the elderly white guy in a nursing home.

Right along with Black Entertainment Television. That is the most blatantly racist product in the US.

She wasn't a slave what are you talking about? She was a great cook and respectable woman proud of herself and her product. Like Betty Crocker.

You don't think blacks ate pancakes in their homes?

No, that one is a keeper that serves its demographic by providing programming for people who are interested in modern black culture. Apples and oranges ...

She had a scarf on her head and looked like a mammy. That was the clear marketing angle.

I think you have to wonder about their motivation for it since it very likely isn't selling more product.

Disturb is too strong of a word, I think. I buy the products. It's just time to let go of these remnants of racism and get with the times.

So no black people on food packaging, because it might represent them being slaves. Then, you'll complain that all food packaging is white people and not enough diversity, which equals racism. There is no winning here.

No, I think we have Bubba-s barbeque sauce. No slave association there. He's good. Oh, and the little girl who makes Bee Sweet lemonade with all natural ingredients (she uses honey) is great!

Is there some sort of slave representation chart you can share so we know what's racist and what isn't. That would be helpful.

I dunno, the company who created it seemed to think so.

    Cool story?

How is holding a fictional character in the same esteem as its peers disrespectful?

Why yes, the Aunt Jemima name is the female version of Uncle Tom. That coupled with the original mammy attire made the portrayal clear. Really, it's the Uncle in Uncle Ben that does him in too ...

How is Aunt Jemima the female version of Uncle Tom?

And now "Uncle" is the new racist term of the month? I have a few uncles, I better alert them.

I'd swear you were being sarcastic and what's scary is I know you're not.
