I think Obama's comments were pointed at some Americans, not all. I think that his comments have partially correct as you can judge from the circus that is American politics. Specifically when specific part of his comment do you disagree with the most? Do you disagree that we have a lot of anger in our politics?

I don't think racism, hate, or "mommy issues" have any connection to a person's beliefs regarding climate change. Instead this was Obama's typical strategy of divisiveness ---- essentially saying "you either agree with me or you are a confused hateful racist with mommy issues".

His accusations had nothing to do with the subject, and accusing people of being confused hateful racists because they disagree with you isn't exactly going to win them over to your side. Instead it just further divides people and shuts down discussion. Typical Obama.

 

That he's concerned about climate change over other issues is why he was one of America's all time worst commanders in chief. If only he faced 1/10th of the propaganda as faced by POTUS Trump, he would've been a one term POTUS. Looking at it from his perspective, 97% of scientists believe that humans are greatly contributing global warming, and to him the science is established. Every other country officially, at least in words, supports curbing climate change, except the US. Global warming isn't controversial to any major political party in a developed nation, except the American right. He believes that the general negative climate in the US is to blame for the lack of progress on this issue and a lot of other issues. He lists some problems that we see in the US political climate like racism, bigotry, etc. I don't think he is labeling all conservatives with all these traits.

 

Other countries are all talking a big game and some of their efforts amount to peanuts. If India and China don’t drastically change their ways it really doesn’t matter what the rest of the world does at all. It’s all talk talk talk.

The reality is that Obama was in typical Obama form, and among other things he couldn't help but playing the race card even though it had absolutely nothing to do with the subject. Only in Obamaland does racism have anything to do with climate change.

Additionally, climate control isn't a black and white issue where you either "believe it" or "don't believe" it. There are people who believe in it in general theory, or in degrees, but question the timeline, the real life impact, the immediacy, or what impact we humans really have (or could have) vs inevitability. There are also people who question the US's impact in particular (when we share the Earth with countries like China), the proposed strategies, and the politicization of the whole thing. Most people fall somewhere in the middle between "I blindly believe climate change will kill us tomorrow" and "I don't believe in any climate change at all, none". The people who are not blind supporters of Obama's climate change ideas are not confused, hateful, racists with mommy issues.

The best thing Obama could do for climate control is shut up and step away from the topic. His divisive approach doesn't work with anyone but his most loyal supporters. He can take his race card and shove it where the sun doesn't shine.
