Ahh, real racism shown here. Who cares. He is extremely intelligent and his own hard work and dedication elevated him to the heights of his profession, not quotas.
The point is he is a BLATANT uncle tom, there is no denying it. See for yourself, right wing Uncle Toms still very much exist, He thanks white people for slavery, and says blacks and arabs are actually responsible for slavery. He also says having a black santa clause would traumatize children Keep in mind, this is a fox news contributor who has been on the network many times. Proof is above.
The proof is you think people should behave a certain way based on the color of their skin. Anything else is betraying their "race". I'm not as narrow minded or racist as that.
That would depend on the state. Some states are very efficient. Others... not so much. Atheists aren't the only people who view much of the Bible as allegorical. Plenty of Christians recognize this as well. Even if you interpret the Bible as literally God's words, it wouldn't be practical for a deity to have tried to explain the Big Bang or evolution to people without any concept of science. A simple fable gets the point across without having to engage in mathematical or empirical complexities. Modern society, however, works differently. We now know a lot more than the ancients did. Because of this, a more analytical explanation is necessary.
I think that we should accept Carson's own words concerning the matter: "I believe that I benefited from affirmative action." In any event, someone like Solomon "Bones" Carson, with no political experience whatsoever, and having enthusiastically expressed his support for socialized medicine, is not getting anywhere near the GOP presidential nomination. Why do some persist in fantasizing about Carson? .
I think you resolved that issue fairly well. I don't know that much about Carson but he seems like a fairly decent fella. He'd probably attract a significant percentage of the black vote to the Republican Party and I think that's a neener-neener thing for a lot of conservative whites. However, they'd HAVE to lose a lot of whites who would never vote for a black anyway, and they'd also lose a lot of run-of-the-mill anti-Obama whites who criticized Obama over his Affirmative Action involvement. There is the off-chance that some actually think he would be a good candidate.
What is wrong with being an Uncle Tom? In the book Uncle Tom's Cabin Uncle Tom as a noble character. If you are referring to the minstrel show version of the character then you are wrong. Ben Carson is far from being that.
Wrong. If Christianity is about letting rich oligarchs take advantage of you then why is the New Testament critical of the rich and why does it say that the love of money is the root of all evil? - - - Updated - - - You don't have to be an atheist to refute Young Earth Creationist nonsense.
Carson.....No way. Hes anti-gun and pro socialized health care. he seems like a nice guy and all but no way. i probably would not even want him for a doctor because he might ask me if i have firearms LOL. now i see his is backtracking his gun stance though.....too late. I would vote for Jonny Carson before I voted for Ben Carson and he is dead.
Family loyalty is good. Meanwhile, the fantasists need to realize that Solomon "Benny Bones" Carson has less chance of being the GOP presidential nominee than does Luke Skywalker. Their familiarity with elective public service is certainly comparable, but a 90% White party is far, far more likely to go for one of their own (not due to race, they'll insist, of course) and Skywalker has never advocated the socialized medicine that the GOP's corporate elite loathe. Where's the profit in it for them? Angry White guys will be presented with a Re-Run Romney or a Bush-Redux by the Party's establishment. They need to face up to that reality.
Still waiting for someone, anyone to provide a link with a reasonably concise version of Carson's positions on the issues. Or maybe that is his real appeal. he really does not have too many ideas that can be questioned or discussed.
Since his political resumé is non-existent, and he used to work as a doctor, his documented advocacy of socialized medicine is his conspicuous strength. Again, in his own words,
Well sorry about asking, seems the link above does contain a lot of Carson's ideas. Maybe they have changed a lot recently. Otherwise it would seem totally nuts for anyone who claims to be a conservative to support someone who can espouse the ideas presented in the link provided by Natty Bumpo.
Calling someone an Uncle Tom is racism by definition because it expects that someone of a particular race should act, believe and live a certain way. I know many black conservatives and I know that I disagree with them on many things and often call them out. That doesn't make them "race traitors" it just makes them wrong. When they say idiotic things calling them idiotic isn't racist either because it simply isn't about race. The thing about the right promoting Ben Carson is that they are acting in a racially tinged way because as the OP says the important issue is his skin color not his ability. (this was true with Sarah Palin in the women's issue she was picked on hope being a woman would be a good way to get the women's vote but at least on paper Palin looked qualified, too bad the paper was so wrong for McCain and the GOP). This is politics in its worse form. What is funny it is what many on the right accused the left of doing with then candidate Obama. President Obama was a rising star in the Democratic party and actually a hard worker politically speaking. His candidacy that I thought was premature was not outside the lines. This wasn't an "affirmative action" candidacy and we saw that as he battled Senator Clinton through the primary. He showed great skill and his ideas were solid for a left of center country. His skin color made many proud (including those who voted against him who felt that the country was clearly dealing with its terrible past) but for a large number of people who regularly voted it was incidental though was a great optic. He did pull people into being active in politics because of his narrative. But I digress. Carson is a typical rah-rah candidate of the right wing noise machine. He is bold, attacks liberal ideas fully, he seems to be unafraid and his race is used as shield for the right wing racism that currently is on display in much of the daily noise they create. But I have questions for those who are excited about his candidacy beyond his image. 1. What clear policies do you see him enacting that would be better for the country? 2. What is unique to him that you would see he brings to the White House? 3. Is there a particular area that he has exceptional skill that will translate into foreign or domestic policy? 4. Do you believe that he can overcome any political and policy deficits as a candidate? Thanks
Seems pretty clear to me that Carson favors death panels, gun control, citizenship for illegal immigrants, affirmative action, and eliminating insurance companies. Seems a perfect candidate for Conservatives if he could just walk back his statements from the past. And he could always compensate for his lack of foreign policy experience by choosing Palin as his running mate.
He's a black Huckabee. Seemingly soft spoken jovial kinda guy. Naturally likeable. The Creationist thing is a liability. One has to question the mentality behind that kind of blind belief.
Excellent analysis Unifier (from back on page 1 post 6) .. What would you think if Mitt Romney decided to campaign for the #2 job .. and chose a Carson - Romney ticket? Would this significantly alter the formula?
That is certainly an interesting link that you posted Natty Bumpo! http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2013/12/ben_carson_in_his_own_words.html "The entire concept of for profits for the insurance companies makes absolutely no sense; the first thing we need to do is get rid of for-profit insurance companies!" Natty…. if President Lincoln was here among us again do you think that he might just be able to come up with a method of financing ObamaCare or RomneyCare or whatever……. in a better manner than is presently in force? I mean….. if it is accurate that he saved American taxpayers four billion dollar in interest payments….. then he might just be able to figure out a way to decrease medical insurance costs also?????! http://www.michaeljournal.org/lincolnkennedy.htm
