You haven't said anything that we did not know. Why don't you try something else?

Just in case you haven't noticed, your senseless say so means ZERO.

With or without the Fed they have the option to just keep printing money and there would be no control at all other than political will over how rapidly it enters the market place. There is nothing the fed can do to make congressmen quit spendig money like drunken sailors in the red light district on shore leave after a year at sea. We'd have the same debt whether we had a federal reserve or not an likely larger without it.

Everything the government has done since Obama was elected is little more than a huge a gamble that the economy will come around before inflation - especially in the commodities which the feds love to ignore - reaches the point where stagflation followed by massive deflation is unavoidable, to date the gamble appears to be failing.

If you fully understand the definition of "PRINTING", you wouldn't say they don't.

BS. The Federal Reserve manipulates the bond market by keeping interest rate at ultra low, that allowing uncle Sam to rollover old debts with a cheaper rate, thus, the Federal Reserve is acting as a cheerleader for the government to continue its reckless spending and fiscal irresponsiblity.

At the same time it also means more money is available for start ups, and other sorts of investments. The federal reserve can only set interest rates for America. Something tells me the Chinese are doing a little better than the interest rates Americans are getting.

So congress's supposed monetary policy, is a static document?

In what reality would this be considered congress creating monetary policy?

What now? On the spinner again garyd? Available liquidity DOES NOT mean jack if banks do not lend or businesses/consumers do not demand for loans.

And remember, by keeping interest rate at ultra low, the Federal Reserve are stealing money from fixed income grandpas and grandmas and give it to the bankers. Bernanke's ZIRP and soon to be NIRP has effectively wiped out billions of interest incomes of risk averse group. Cheap liquidity comes at a cost, it's NOT FREE. Another word, government's job is to pick winners and losers, just wonderful.

So when you say Congress sets Monetary Policy, what you mean is they hold this token position of having the authority to do so, but not exercising it in any meaningful way.

If you disagree, please provide examples of meaningful Monetary policy congress has dictated to the FED.

Or you could just admit that like your argument for how much the FED issued in loans, you are being disingenuous, and just muddying the waters.

they exercise it by requiring the fed to show what progress it's making in achieving the goals set by congress

it has been done, but they keep going over your head

what's obvious is that you aren't educated in the functions of the fed

or the basic principles of economics
