Why? I'm not kidding. George Bush was one step above going "full retard", but he had a huge staff of people all around to help him to ...well...he had a huge staff that helped him. John F Kennedy said that he wasn't the best or the smartest but he could hire them.

I get what you are saying but it would be a horrible idea or maybe it is genius?

No need to get snarky. I simply explained to you how a plumber could be President. No other qualifications are needed.

Even a drunk who lives under the bridge is qualified to be President if they are native born, are at least 35, and won the electoral vote. Speaking of drunks, isn't Joe Biden a hair's breathe away from being President?

But when it comes down to it, he has the ultimate responsibility. The same could be said of any business. You wouldn't hire a plumber to head a huge corporation? Why should it be different for running a country. true, Bush was a retard but wouldn't a more san and intelligent person have done a better job?

Everyone knows that. But no one is really debating that. Leave that to the birthers.

Eligibility & Qualification are two different conditions, as one is known as a prerequisite to the other. Every legal citizen in this country is eligible to apply for employment... however, not all are qualified for every employment opportunity.

Article II Clause 5 of the Constitution clearly spells out the qualifications to become President. No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States.

However, the 14 year resident within the US has never been challenged and it is not clear whether it has to be consecutive. After one meets these qualifications, then one has to win the electoral vote. Of course, this person could not have been elected twice before, previously rebelled from the U.S., or been impeached. Actually, impeachment is not an automatic disqualification, but the Senate has the power to disqualify them from any federal office.

Other than that, no other qualifications are needed. As history has shown, sometimes idiots can be elected into the Oval Office. Just because you may have other personal qualifications for the POTUS will not necessarily prevent someone from being President.

Obama is eligible, but so is anyone with two tits and a heartbeat. As far as being qualified, Obama has to the the least qualified President I've seen in my 54 years and it shows over the last 3 1/2 years.

Since Biden is a Catholic he was probably thinking about Sirach 38:24-34 in the Catholic Bible.

    Sirach 38:24-34 (CEB) = The scribe’s superiority

24 The scribe’s wisdom depends on the opportunity for leisure, and whoever lacks busyness will become wise.
25 How will people become wise when they take hold of a plow or pride themselves in how well they handle an ox prod, when they drive cattle and are absorbed with their work, and their conversation is about bulls?
26 Their hearts are given over to plowing furrows, and they lose sleep because they’re concerned about supplying heifers with food.
27 So it is also with every craftsperson and master artisan who carries over the day’s work into the night, who carves figures on seals and works diligently to make diverse ornamentations. They will devote themselves to producing a lifelike painting, and they lose sleep in order to finish their work.
28 So it is with smiths who sit near an anvil and who closely examine works of iron. The blast of the fire will melt their flesh, and they will struggle with the heat of the furnace. The sound of the hammer will strike their ears again and again, and their eyes are focused on the pattern of the object. They will devote themselves to finishing the work, and they lose sleep in order to complete its decoration.
29 So it is with potters sitting at their work, turning the wheel at their feet. They lie down always feeling anxiety about their work, and every product of theirs is valued.
30 They will mold the clay with their hands and work the wheel with their feet. They will devote themselves to finishing the glazing, and they lose sleep in order to clean the kiln.

31 All of these have relied on their hands, and each one is skilled in their work.
32 Without them a city can’t be inhabited, and they neither go abroad to live as immigrants nor travel about. However, they aren’t sought out when the people hold a council,
33and they won’t gain prominence in the assembly. They won’t sit in the judge’s seat, and they won’t understand the disposition of a legal case. They will never shed light on instruction and judgment, and their words won’t be memorialized in proverbs.
34 But they support the world from its foundations, and their prayer is concerned with their craft. But those who devote themselves and think about the Law of the Most High are the exception.

I guess conservatives hope people won't remember the Bush years. I haven't seen conservatives do anything to help the economy is over twenty years. Democrats haven't done (*)(*)(*)(*) either but pretending like conservatives are some sort of economic masterminds is completely ridiculous.

Now feel free to find a way to blame liberals for conservatives failures.

I don't know. We had an actor become President and he did pretty darn well. We have had actors and ball players in Congress and they didn't do bad either. Why not a plumber? If he has kept up with politics, why should the job he did rule him out?

I would say both sides have done more to screw up our economy than fix it.

I think the stuff flushed by a plumber is more qualified than the president we have now.

Don't know. We do know commuinity organizers aren't. If a guy worked at a plumber after highschool for two years before going to college would probably disqualify him for the elitist liberals. Is a failed baberdasher qualified to be President? Is a man who was a Senator for a year qualified to be President? How about a career politician? I'm not sure they're qualified to be citizens.

And then there's poor Joe Biden. The only guy President obama could find who he thought would make him look good and it failed.

There are the qualifications required. Im sure many plumbers would qualify. Now enlighten me, how is a plumber LESS qualified than a community organizer?

I USED to be impressed with the whole "Harvard educated" thing until I found out how low their entry standards are..they even let dopehead, lazy truants in..heck, our local community college is harder to get into!

OBAMA: I spent the last two years of high school in a daze, locking away the questions that life seemed insistent on posing. I kept playing basketball, attended classes sparingly, drank beer heavily and tried drugs enthusiastically. I discovered that it didn't make any difference whether you smoked reefer in the white classmate's sparkling new van or in the dorm room with somebody you've met down at the gym, or on the beach with a couple of Hawaiian kids who is dropped out of school and spent most of their time looking for an excuse to brawl.

Someone should really let these politicians know that the typical college kid thing is so last century.
